Is it even physically possible to tame a doed?
These things bust have torpor counters on par with gigas.

Ive been trying to build a decent base, I quickly realised if I decide to do it all by hand im going to lose my mind first.

I looked it up and, apparently doeds are great to have, not just for gathering stone but just all around.

So I found a lvl 4 one. Looked it up on DoDoDex, 6 tranq arrows. Cool.
Upon futher investigation these are shots fired in the area slightly below/behind the tail, since the shell only recieves half torpor.

Just to be safe, I made 25 tranq arrows for my crossbow and 2 wooden clubs.

I looked it up, the best way to do it is to stay behind it and hit below its tail when it attacks you with it.

25 tranqs later, Its just lost all intrest I guess. if the shell takes half, 2 x 6 is 12, regardless if I was still technically hitting the shell or not, it should of dropped. I basically just gave up and started slamming it in the head with the wooden club. 25 tranq arrows and 2 wooden clubs couldnt do it?

Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me.

And I KNOW the arrows were atleast hitting it because when it swung I would get right on its ass and fire arrows.

Why try to shoot the tail when you can shoot the head as it runs towards you? Its super easy to out pace them and shoot them in the head

Doesnt the head also take half?

Oh and http://www.dododex.com/taming/doedicurus?level=4&taming=&consumption=

You can see it says for KO its 6 unreduced shots from a crossbow... GG WC

At the bottom between KO count and stats
"The Doedicurus does not have multipliers for headshots or any other areas."

It's not hard to tame them, but it takes some patience.
Shoot its head, not its tail. Just walk backwards while firing, they are slow...
When it balls up, just wait until it comes back out, it will take a while.

shooting when they're curled is pretty ineffective that means you did too much damage already.

using a longneck they rarely curl.

*complains about doeds*
..
these things are so easy to tame dude, heck, sometimes i just find random ones out cold by a scorp in the wild
headshots are the best spot though (some dinos like trikes and patchys you need to avoid the head)

Im the only man on earth that can tame a lvl 26 spino but not a lvl 4 doed.

what an amazing power :D the natural enemy of doed are trees and turning.. seriously these things will get stuck on 2 twigs.

Ist not just halfed. What you are referring to is the amount of damage they take frome bullet projectiles. They take A LOT less frome melee atatcks and arrows. You pretty much cant knock it out once it curls up. Just use a longneck with Darts (they only curl up after taking too much dmg and because the hp is random they sometimes will curl up and sometimes not when using arrows). Never trust dododex on the amount of needed arrows. They are pretty accurate with the required amount of narcotics (Id pack 50 more then they suggest) to Keep it knocked out but the amount of arrows is usually wrong.

We had people using journeyman longnecks, shooting it only in the head and it still curled up several times before it was knocked out.

Best option is to drop it in a pen if you have a Wyvern/Quetzal, if the pen is even somwhat small it will just run back and forth getting stuck in the walls and wont even attack you, just takes a while to knock out. Ours was i believe 140 wild and took something like 50-60 tranq darts in the head from journeyman longnecks due to how often it would curl.

If they do curl up I recommed leaving the render distance and coming back. Maybe its just me but I think theyll uncurl faster then.

Most dinos should be shot in the head with tranq. What a riddiculus idea to tranq it in the tail while its so fkin slow and goes towards you. For small dinos always have 10-20 tranq just in case. For medium dinos like doed, stego always have 60 or more just in case. For bigger dinos like rex always have 100 tranq just in case. If you wont get enough tranq then you will only waste your time. Get more, you will need them anyway for other tames.

Im really lost as what to suggest.

They are super easy to KO and tame, i have tamed that many 140+ doeds ive lost count.

they are strange, sometimes youc an k.o them before they ball up, but when they end up at the "BALLIGN UP" stage stuff can get annoiyng.
Hal Ramersby Jan 4, 2018 @ 7:58am
Most doeds are already fokd up from, well, being around raptors and rexes and pretty much anything. They are half-doed (kek) so if you really want one, trap it and build a fence around it to keep it there for a day till it gets back to full HP. Only then you have a high chance of torping it out before it curls up.
Cornelius Sludge Jan 4, 2018 @ 8:02am
You can't hit them on the shell, you need to hit them in the head or tail. Its incredibly easy. If your worried about it being to hurt use a magnifying glass.
