I'm Not Understanding the Daeodon
Hey,

On my server we tamed a daeodon that tamed out at about 150. He seems pretty tough but I'm not understanding the food situation with him. I thought it would eat loads of food if you used the heal ability. However I have passive healing turned off and regardless it goes through food faster than you can get it. We keep it away from all feeding troughs so it doesn't drain the food for all the other tames. If I ever take it out to do anything it always nearly dies from hunger and eats more than we can kill.

I don't see the point of it. Is this a bug or what? It's a pretty cool looking tame but I'm thinking of taking it out for "the long walk" and abandoning it.

After you tamed it, did it eat itself full? Because when it was attack during taming it would most likely have used it's ability and thus had it's food meter drained. But once it's health and food is full it shouldn't eat any more than any other dino.

Also try turning the passive healing on n off, might be bugged. Though should only use it if there's a wounded friendly nearby.

It has had full food since it was tamed. When I checked it today it was almost dead from hunger. It was all bloody and wasn't far from being an ex pig. I went out and gather a huge amount of meat which should have filled it? Couldn't hang around and see.

It does heal regardless of being set to "no passive healing" if you have it tagging along with a group. That seems weird. I've tried toggling the ability. Sounds like maybe it's bugged.

https://ark.gamepedia.com/Daeodon#Utility check their food values from meat. You got to feed them cooked meat or prime meat to full their food bar.

well there is your problem if its healing the group everytime you take it out then yeah it will starve to death. We have a cuople of them over 50,000 food if it gets down to 20,000 food it will take 6 full feeding trough's and force feeding to get it back to close to full. They do go threw food quick but if you are using it all the time then yeah expect to do alot of gathering of meat and alot of force feeding. Leave it at your base and only heal a dino if it needs it by getting on it and right click, then right click again to turn it off but stuff it full of meat and force feed it while your healing should help with the food problem.

i use them to mature wyverns. easier than farming milk when your new to a server. once u got a wyvern or any mount you can stand on and fly farmig is simple. no need for traps. but before that, these pigs are great at forcing a wyvern to mature without milk.

Stack mods and food mods help.

Thanks guys. Since we're on PVE and the island map he might not really be needed.
