fast travel losing items

Hi I just got the game and forgetting that fast travel removes all items i have fast traveled. Is there a way to recover the lost items? also whats the point in fast travel if you have to lose all items?

If you die and can't return to a bed a quick Bedroll let's you get back to base. As for the items dropped you can go back to where you traveled from.

oh, ok then my items must be under my house. thank you. the game really should at least put it on the bed or something

They will despawn over time , not sure what the default time is.

They don’t stay indefinitely.

Fast travel allows you to move quickly across the map to activate something or do a task that you do not feel like flying or carrying gear to. It cannot allow you to bring items because during pvp it would provide a significant advantage to the defender. The tek teleporter provides this advantage at a large cost.

You could use fast travel beds to collect sap from taps in redwoods every hour and store it there and then make 1 trip to collect at the end of the day for example.
