Karkinos and catapult!!
Just wanted to ask i keep trying tame karkin and i just keep killing them, i know have to hit head but even if i do catapult does more damage on very little of torpor, is there way to make it so it does less HP damage and more torpor damage.

I saw a video on using a cannon to tame them, think it was one of Zueljins videos, get a Paraceratherium and put a cannon on the back, have the Karkinos chase you and have your buddy aim the cannon down and shoot the Karkinos in the head, in his video it took only one shot to down the Karkinos...if its too low level the cannon will kill it outright though, think around 50+ was good.

Drag a corpse close to and let it eat it. It wil restore some of its health. Thats how i did it.

Also, you can use a connon. Only problem with that is - the cannon ball does splash damage as well - so it will lower your bonus levels.

Doesn't bonus lvl gets calculated after it's knock down?

Yes, so it loses bonus levels if it takes any dmg after passing out.

Hit it on the back, not legs or head, and use a magnifying glass to be sure you arent getting it too close to death.

We tamed out two today. Generally they are down to 300-1200 health by the time they KO. Some of the really low level ones cannot be tamed. They die before they ko.

Also recommend you build a trap but put your catapult on a platform saddle on a para so you can adjust the angle of the hit FULLY.

Figure on the catapult doing approx 400 damage and torpor each hit. As it gets closer to ko, it seems to do a little less damage but that's a fair average. If you get them too close to death, give them an hour or so to heal up and try again.

Was 250 damage per hit on body shots I have damage numbers active on my server and haven't modified any Dino stats or damage settings didn't check torpor it was doing though but took roughly 17 hits to knock out a 150

You can hit anywhere on the body, just mot the legs or arms.

I knocked out a 145 by running it into stone dinosaur gateways with a large bear trap in the middle. I had a cannon positioned on the side it would be chasing me into so the second it got trapped I shot the cannon and headshot bam it was down and out for the count.

My tactic as i got s+ thus can use the demo gun is:

See the crab,
Place a foundation at where i think it will run,
place the cannon where i think the shell will be,
aim the cannon up 1,
load the cannon,
Draw the crab over,
hide behind the cannon,
once the crabs close enough to start meleeing fire the cannon,
for lvl 1-120 instant knock out for 121-150 might need a second shot.

If you hit the shell it will not kill it unless it was alreaddy missing health,
This method works even on lvl 1's caught myself a lvl 10,23,45,77 with only 1 cannonball each.

You will only gain 55% bonus lvls due to the splash damage however,

With the lvl 77 crab and 50% bonus lvls once i had maxed it out i used it to get myself a reaper :3

Tho i do recommand 2 lvl 100+ (before tame) mate boosted if u go for a mid to high lvl reaper.

You need 20k hp 300% melee for a good chance.

Have fun crab and possiblely reaper hunting :3

Run up and toss a bear trap under it. That'll hold in in place for 5 seconds so you can rapid fire at the body for free.
aim the ass not the head lol, like get someone on a spino taking the aggro for u and go on it's back. 17-18 boulder with catapult for a 150, full effectivness unlike canon
DrathDragoon33 Dec 26, 2017 @ 7:58pm
Or get a mod weapon with torpor put that slut on the ground

when i used a catapult to tame a karkinos, i tried about 5 times befor finding a high level one that didnt die when hitting it, dont hit the head, too much dmg but the body worked for me low levels will die so i reccomed getting a 80+

Yeah, but the cannon ball registers two hits. The initial impact, and when it hits the ground (splash). As the cannonball knocks it out with the first hit, the splash damage will be applied after the creature falls asleep - thus decreasing your effectiveness and bonus levels.
