Therizinosaurus is too abundant
I've started playing Ark and have made a new charcter and each time I spawn, no matter my location there are therizinosaurus' everywhere at least one in my circular view. In my experience I encounter them more often than raptors, They always seem to slowly walk towards me and when I start to backpedal they rush me and two hit me, sometimes one if it launches me in the air. Seven times I have died to them exclusively and they seem to attack unprovoked. One time I constructed a base for around an hour in one spot then suddenly while I am inside the crazed animal one shots my wooden walls, destroys my entire house in 5 seconds, killing me and my bed in the process.

Tips to help me avoid them?

Learn to live on a raft for a while. Another fun bonus of these giant platypi is they damage stone. Get to level 15, build a raft by hook or crook, and sail around until you find a spot without them. The far southern quarry peninsula is a good area without them stomping around. Level up and grind out enough metal walls to make a good barricade to keep your dinos and new land base in. Herbivore Island is a good choice for starting out as it has all the basic resources (metal included) and is a short flight from 2-6 hills/mountains with obsidian/crystal.

The theri only attacks when you get a bit TOO close-but i agree, it is too abundant. I jokingley refer to it as the "Triggersaurus" due to it being WAY too common, everywhere. i have seen 5 in about 30 feet of eachother at times.

I wholeheartedly agree that Therizinosaurus is WAY too abundant. I had a spot in localhost server for a training center in Southern Islets that would periodically get a Carno coming through or see a rex in the distance, but was otherwise safe enough to have a wood-based training center for my 25-45 lvl grind. However, it's now overrun with Therizinos and every time I get close to my tames, they become targets as well.

The Troodons were certainly a nasty shock that first night, but they are easy enough even at night by themselves if you hop on a mount (Any mount, even a Phiomia), as their damage is weaksauce and without the ability to torpor you, they die easy (but you gotta have SOMETHING for protection... which is near impossible with my training center having 3-5 Therizinosaur wandering around).

I'm currently working on a perimeter fence, just hope I don't accidentally include a Therizinosaur spawn point inside it.

Also built a stone trap for Therizinos... I considered using it to try to tame one, but looking at how much Narco/food/time that would take, I'm better off tranquing for the kill until I have more dinos.

I have to agree. We have our base at the southern islets and therinizinos are literally everwhere. In every direction you look you spot around 3-5 of them. Too much imho.

I just cut them with my sword

I take it you've got a shield and flak armor that you dont mind repairing. Bc theres no way midlevel can take on even a lvl4 therizinosar with a sword without dying. Way too op, tried too many times myself.
