CPU at 0% when I try to run My Ark Server
I am running a server hosted bu Host Havoc. For awhile its been okay until I had to restart the server. Now its coming up whenever anyone tries to join it, it will say Host/Timedout Host Pending Connection. Then about a minute later it says Connection timedout. It says in the control panel of Host Havoc 0% CPU. I tried talking with the support team but they said it may be the mods.

Looks like the CPU used to host it may be dead, seeing as it is giving 0% output, and servers usually have more than one CPU, so if you're wondering why the entire server is dead, that's the reason.

I'm not sure how your mods have anything to do with it here, those customer service representatives need a slap in the right direction.

It says the server is running but just no one can join. When the server is starting up the CPU is at about 12% and then plummets as soon as the server starts. When I check status and activity on Host Havoc it says everything is healthy on the server.

Hm, the CPU isn't entirely dead..yet.

It doesn't look to be functioning as well as it should, and plus, its not like your getting the full CPU to yourself, its probably a virtual server model, and maybe due to strain the CPU is on the verge of stopping completely.

Host Havoc isn't the greatest server provider around anyway, picture this, 1000's of virtual servers needing to be maintained, but a limited number of actual Server PC's, what they do is split the servers between the number of actual pc's, so you're not getting anything amazing, and in this case it looks like you're getting nothing at all, lucky to even get a few threads of the CPU.

All in all, try to remove the mods, if nothing changes, then obviously its not your fault.

Remove all mods, try log in.

If it works, start adding them back one by one until the problem happens again...

Then just don't use the mod that caused it.

Gee, why don't you try asking the support guys at Host Havoc? Perhaps they may have direct access to the host and can tell you exactly why it is not working versus asking a bunch of gamers that will only provide you with guesses? If it were your own personal server in your house, people here may be able to help you but when it is a hosting company, the first place you should check is with them.

Ok thank you for your help im going to see if I can talk to them about it more knowing a bit more knowledge from you.

Problem is most hosting services are just some dude, their default answer (even if it's not mods) is: mods.

So you troubleshoot the mods and if it isn't them then you can get host to do some actual work.

Earlier the mods were working just until we ran into a bug so i updated all the mods and restarted the server and after that is when it stopped working

The problem is mods might not be updated to the latest version because they're community maintained and WC has been putting out a lot of updates recently.

When I saw that next post I thought the same thing, I agree, probably some sort of incompatibility.

Ok the mod that I updated was the K9 Stack mod so I will see if I can get a different one in replace. Going to try trouble shooting all the mods and figure out which one it is

When the CPU drops to 0% on your control panel, it means that your save is corrupt and is unable to load. You will need to either wipe your save and start fresh, or load a save that had been backed up from a previous date.

This most commonly occurs when a new Ark update is released and the mods on your server are not compatible with the new game files and thus corrupts your content. This has nothing to do with our server hardware or our ark files, as they are all gathered directly from Steam and we do not modify them in any way. Please understand that Ark is an early access game, which includes the risk of data corruption and non compatibility with mods when things change.

personally i say ditch host, their servers are crap, and they overload their boxes for servers, i had them up till a week ago, we got 8 players in our server, and the rubber band game began, never looking back, currently renting from gtxgaming, 40 slots are 28 usd, can add a solid state drive for 42 cents extra, fast customer service, 32 gigs of ram for your server (compared to havocs 8) and a full gig of bandwith for your server (we actually downloaded our save and wiped the world and had players rejoin the host havoc server prior to transferring, removed all mods, still rubberbanded like nothing else when we hit 8 people, tried relocating the server as well with them, didnt help) havoc is not that great, recommend you look for a different host
