Freezing problem
Sup fellow survivors!
I will try to explain, as good as i can, what's happening for me.
So since a few updates ago, ark is simply unplayable for me.

There are three different scenarios ive recognized so far.
1. The game freezes by loading
2. The game freezes by joining
3. The game freezes 20 seconds after joining a server.

So now i ve asked myself why does that happen ?
I have deinstalled ark completly, everything that was ark related, including all mods and other stuff.

I did a fresh new isntallation, like it were the first time ever launching ark.
So far so good, no freezes on starting the game or joining a server! Small victory.
But it's still the same that the game freezes after about 20 seconds after joining.

No matter where, i've also tried on a couple of different offical servers, everywhere the same problem.
And its not like i get an error message to work with, it just freezes. Even when i wait... a long long time. It's still frozen. It also does NOT crash.

I have to add, that i've played ark for 1200 hours without ANY problems.
Sadly im not able to play at all since a couple of weeks now.

Pc informtations :
i7 4790
gtx 980
16gb ddr3 ram
SSD & HDD
OS Windows 8.1

I dont think my computer will be the problem, cause it worked totally fine, with ok fps for 1200 hours.
Ive played around with starting options, starting with dx10 and stuff like that, just to see if anything could help me, but nothing made a difference.

So i really hope that someone could help me, have an idea, a tip, or even a solution for this problem.
Cause so far im not able to solve it myself, ive tried and done everything i know of.

Thanks for reading, have a good day!

It's the raptor claus update, I assume if you wait for it to end, you can play again.

If you can't wait, put -nomansky in the launch settings. I think thats the command line anyway..

It maybe battleeye that is causing the problem. First find ARK in your steam library. Then right click it, click properties. under "General" click Launch Options add -noBattlEye as written, with big and small letters and the - at the front. Save. And boot up the game normally and check if it worked.

There is a new bug that can cause your game to have extreme loading times. It's not frozen, even though it appears that way. Just walk away from the computer for a while and then come back and you will probably be in game. It takes some people 10-15 minutes to get in game with this bug.

With this bug you also get a freeze within about 30 seconds of succesfully loading. Once again, it's not permanently frozen. Just let it sit and eventually it will unfreeze and you will then be able to play.

If it's single player you can use the "Destroywilddinos" command to temporarily fix the loading freeze issue once you successfully enter the game.

Hm ok, ive already waited once for like 30 mins and it was still "frozen" but i will try it more often now, thanks !

I've followed all suggestions, but sadly nothing of that helped me either...
It still "freezes" after beeing 20-30 seconds on any server.
I've than also waited 30 mins in all cases to see if it works after that, but no... it doesnt. :(
Do you guys have any more suggestions ?
Or is the only thing i can hope for, that they fix this bug somewhere in the future ?

It's a VERY long shot, but do you play ark on a hard drive by some chance?

I got it installed on my HDD ye, cause my SSD dont have enough space when ark gets an 1gb update. Even when there is 40 gb freespace left after installing.
is the HDD the problem ?

Well obviously you're having problems with loading times..

So possibly, I own a 950 512gb pro m2 ssd and ark loads in literal seconds, and have an 1tb 850 pro sata 3 SSD for other games/important applications. And finally a 1tb hard drive for other applications.

The M.2 runs at 2500-3000MB/s read speed, one of the fastest you can buy, and was the fastest before the 960 pro.

The 850 pro runs at 550-600mb/s, the limit for sata 3 ssd's. Still far faster than a hard drive.

I always had it on my HDD and never had problems with loading. Of course it took longer than on my SSD, but at least it worked.

when i know wait 30-40 minutes, nothing has changed. That would have to be a 1kb/s loading than.
Maybe i will try to install it on my SSD ?
But than i had to reinstall the whole game, everytime they release an update.

Your best bet is to buy a larger ssd, and store ark on it. Plus hard drives degrade over time, as they write onto the magnetic disk within the parts wear away, thusly causing artefacts and lower speeds/efficiency.

How long have you had your hard drive?

Even when i take all this effort and money to buy a new SSD, no one knows if that would fix the problem. Cause it worked on my HDD the whole time just fine.
Everything else works fine as well.
It is only Ark, causing those problems.
I think ill just test install it on my SSD and see if the problems stays there as well.
Thanks for you time & suggestions!

That would be a great idea, try it out, see how it works out. ^^
