Are trikes worth it?
Stupid question, but are they really worth it? I'm gonna be taming meat eaters mostly and won't need a trike much as all they do is get berries

They're great for early game, especially as guard dogs. After that, I usually get a bunch of stegs and go from there. The knockback is handy against troodons, I've noticed.

They are great for early game narco collection. I wouldn't tame 2 to breed them tho. Just a tool dino.

Is necessary at least 1 dino to farm berry.
I highly recommend Ankylo.

I like trikes, a trio is good for pack mules especially now that you don't have infinite carry on a quetz or platform.

I actually like them more than stegos, the aoe is better to me. As is the knock back.
In before the 'you should tame a giga with one hand tied behind your back on your first day while naked' crowd...

Trikes are absolutely one of the best starter tames because, with a little cunning, you can tame one with newbie equipment (I've seen it done with a slingshot and picking berries by hand in cloth armor, given a cliffside or tower to do it from), but it's an all-purpose animal for a newbie -- can carry, can gather, can defend. When I'm starting, the moment I get a trike is usually the moment I feel like I'm finally out of the panic-and-die stage and can start to seriously think about a base and making progress.

You can also use teh slingshot/run around rock/stuck on tree method. I prefer teh run around a big rock 400 times method.

Absolutely one of my first tames. Always.

Trikes are my favorite animals in the game. Definately worth it, especially early on.

One of the best early game mounts. Makes farming narcos a lot easier and handy for thatch as well. Late game not so much, but trikes are my favourite dinosaur so I'm always taming them. Can never have enough :)

If you're playing on an official server,(which hopefully you're wiser than that), trikes early game especially are helpful for the berries since gathering berries both to eat and as well for making narcos in bulk is important.

Additionally, the trikes do decent damage to most things but the key most helpful part of that is their knockback. Well timed hits mean you can kill many dino's before they lay a hit on you. I've killed alpha raptos with a mid range trike in the past because of that knockback factor alone. However, be defensive. Dont go looking to kill anything with the trike. They're just your body guard while you farm mats to build your base and upgrade yourself.

How are you going to tame said meat eaters without any berry gathering dinos?

first trike, then ptero, then carno then focus on base

Trikes are so worth it! As others have posted, they are excellent for collecting berries and thatch, great for carrying weight, their knockback ability along with being able to wield a weapon while mounted on them. Overall great starter dino in my opinion.

Also very happy to see other Trike enthusiasts! My friends on my server tease me about my love for trikes, one of my favorite dinos!

When you kill your first alpha with Trikes knocback... you will know it has its perks.
