PS4 Hosting Issue Found !!
I have been beating the bush for days analyzing the issues with hosting a dedicated server on ps4.. Here is the issue, Ark requires a NAT 1 to host on ps4. This requires a direct PS4 to modem connection... 95% of people connect through a router/switch which forces PS4 into a NAT 2, this is unchangeable no matter DMZ or Static IP you will always be NAT 2. Ark states it needs an open NAT to host however NAT 2 is open Just not Direct wired. Modems with more than 1 port are not modems they are combo units with combination ROuter/Modem and will also only connect NAT 2.....so if you hard wire ps4 to modem than no other devices in the house can connect to the internet (no router) . if you connect ps4 to router you can not host.

There are only 2 solutions #1 is to buy a whole separate internet package for a 2nd modem ($$$)
Option #2 is the Game Designers allow for hosting through a NAT 2 Connection which is still open connection it is just not recognized by the game as an open connection.

I have 2 ps4's and 2 main accounts, however server rental is not an option for PS4

My goal was to have 1 PS4 online 24/7 as a dedicated host. (ps4 pro had updated graphics capability if your tv allows it)

I have come to this exact same conclusion. That's all that could possibly make sense. Is this going to be fixed? Flat our frustrating to say the least.

You do not have to be nat type 1 to host a dedicated server. I currently host a dedicated server with nat type 2. As long as all ports are forwarded, you can do it. The problem isn't nat type 1, it's the game joining/inviting bug. The way you get around it is to successfully join a non dedicated server before hosting a dedicated server. If you are able to send invites multiple times without the inviting function not responding after 0 to 1 invites, meaning you invite 2 or more different times. That's how you can tell the server is working. The real issue with ps4 hosting is 2 seperate facts. 1st the ps4 dedicated servers are unreliable because the crash randomly. 2nd, you can only hold about 10 to 15 people max. After that pings start going through the roof and the frame rate of the server drops below 5 fps. Ps4 were not made to be servers. Even with these problems I still host a dedicated server until they release pc hosting for ps4.
