Is the flamethrower actually good for anything?
Just wondering if its worth prioritizing getting a chemistry table to make the ammo for it. (I do realize thst the chem table itself is very useful.)

It's a flamethrower.

Ever come across a flamethrower in a game that was not epic?

Try a flame arrow.

No. Don't make them. Ever.

It's the ultimate weapon for cave runs. Other than that, flame arrows have the advantage due to their range.

I don't know. Ark has plenty of items that are very situational in nature and "expensive" resource-wise. And I saw a Youtube video about the flamethrower where the guy said the only thing it was good for was wasting vegetation without collecting resources.

Flame arrow is nice, but the Wiki doesn't have any numbers regarding how it affects critters, so hard to compare with flamethrower's 100 damage per tick.

Also, since someone here has already said they use it effectively in tight-quarters (caves), does it do AOE ?

Last time i used a Flamethrower on Scorched Earth i made my friends PC crash when burning bushes, that thing can be an insane FPS killer.

I would believe that it'd be pretty useful against the swarm of flies in the swamp cave.

You should get a chem table reguardless if you need to make flamethrower ammo, as it very quickly makes anything a mortar and pestle can, spark narc and gunpowder for days! Unless you like having 6 mortars laying about...

I experience my Ark emperically, so a wiki has never been the gate that I must open to do anything in ARK.

Make some propellant, craft a flame arrow, go hunting. Instant enlightenment.

I personally do not use Flame Arrows as they are a bit OP for my personal flavour of Primitive Ark Living.

As people have said, they are incredibly useful when caving. Expensive to make and repair though so I was thinking of trying out flame arrows for my next cave run but also there is the fun factor, it's a flamethrower..........

Fuel is pretty cheap to make with all mats being abundant on SE

I still think that anything lit on fire should flee. Just a natural reaction. Humans are the only species that will not avoid fires.
