Where is the fastest berry farming location for brontos on The Island?
i have found 1,000,000 posts about what the best DINO for berry farming is, now i want to know where the best LOCATION is for harvesting. i have a bronto, and it moves.... really .... freaking...... sllllooooowwwww. is there one spot on the map, that has absolutely tons of berry bushes, and little to no trees? everywhere i have tried, i get hung up on trees for most of the time i am out there, and it is pretty painful trying to turn back around on these guys. if you have found a spot like this, please share it here! I am playing on the original "the Island" map

I always go to the spot south of Weathertop, across the water from Cragg's Island. There's still trees there, but a short burst of sprinting knocks them down, and there's tons of berry bushes. Especially if you make multiple laps, the bushes respawn while the trees take longer.

could you give me coords please?

never mind. google is a great tool when searching for a specific land mark. Thanks for the tip, i will check it out in the morning

Try taking the bronto into the swamp and look for large patches of the black bushes, perhaps not the best place for berries but you can get hundreds or thousands of rare flowers and use them as your players food for the rest of your ark life from 1-4 trips. The swamp on east coast is pretty good for these.

Brontos move so slow as you said I just take them outside my front door whereever that is and swipe a few times. I don't see the point of travelling anywhere with them to get a few more berries.

Once I get my veggie / fruit farm going I never use berry farmers again.

Man thats the exact spot i used to get my berries from to :D 1 swing of the tail on 2x fills up the bronto with enough to feed my whole farm haha.

Things is though, bronto's gather so many berries so fast you shouldn't have a problem where ever you are. Its usually just a short walk to berry bushes. My friend doesn't even need to leave her yard to feed well over 300 dino's. She lives oposite herb island.

yes, you are all correct. i don't have to go past my door to feed my dinos, but that is not the goal here. i am on a private server, and i wanted to get enough narcotics for everyone to use for a while. including darts and narcotic to keep them sleepy. have you tamed a lvl 100+ casteroides?

i needed about 100k narco berries and to waste time getting 100 in a good swing when i could be getting 700...

well do the math 100,000/100 is 1,000 tail swings.
while 100,000/700 is 142 tail swings.

if each good tail swing takes about 15 seconds to line up, walking forward, angling, and then the actual swing,

the first option would take 4 hours.

now trust me. you do not get 100 berries in EVERY swing, but just for the sake of simplicity, let us just say 4 hours.

now if you went with the second option, it would take about a half hour.

now, i don't know about you, but i enjoy building, and hunting, and i try to minimise grinding when ever possible. that is the point of the question. maximizing the berry influx to minimize wasted time

bronto is no longer the best berry farmer since the nerf due to the 50% aoe reduction (30% radius). Altho you can still get a pretty respectable amount of berries in redwood from the giant bushes here, you are better off using a bear or a beaver than a bronto.

Wherever you are. Brontos cannot be taken all across the island for berries because they are too slow. There are plentiful berry spots everywhere when using a bronto.

And there is no "lining up" to worry about or waste 15 seconds doing. Take a few steps, swing left and swing right, move up repeat..

Yeah, what margalus said.

I have my berry bronto literally standing in my back yard and I just hopp on, swing left, swing right, access inventory, grab narcs, jump off, recover from fall damage on the way to my chemistry bench, craft narcotics.

If I need more, I just wait till the bushes respawned, and swing left and right again.

I never move that thing, and I only pumped melee damage.

The brown bushes next to the small rivers will yield the most berries by far.

for berries i first clear every tree with my megaloceros untill the whole area is tree-less (goes very fast with megaloceros)

then i go with my mammoth, since the bronto tail swipe nerf (less raadius) i feel that my mammoth is outperforming it

mammoth is faster
mammoth has more stamina

hit some bushs with a ank and you'll gain so many berrys that it's insane.
Gained nearly 2,000 necros in 5 mins waddling around on it.

Since you're on a private server, there are plenty of mods that can also accomodate your needs, especially resource crops or just boosted crop production as well to grow lots of narcos. Also of course higher harvest rates and harvest health settings adjustments.

Bronto's used to be the best but its a factor of volume gathered in x amount of time. Many other dinos now are more viable for this as mentioned.
