rex Trapping raft
Hello my friends
my base is at the north west
I am searching for T-rex but they seems to be rare in my area or the ones which I have found was a low level rexes..
So i am thinking of building a trapping raft and go maybe to carno island to hunt one and drive it back to my base for safe taming.. is that possible to build a raft to capture rex with it?

I tried this once. I built a boat out of metal. Using one of the designs similar to some of the links mentioned here. Caught the rex. Shooting it with darts to knock it out, and then my boat got destroyed. Apparently the rex's Area of Attack was enough to go through a full metal floor and damage the boat below it until the boat destroyed and my metal structure came crashing down.

Won't be doing that again.

that's why i want to extend my raft to build the cage away from the driving area and the boat

Thanks guys..
but I saw a video on YouTube about extending my raft so i am thinking of building a big one and trap the rex inside and move to safe location to begin the taming party.. do you think the latest updates didn't prevent extending the raft?
You can still build out to 7x7. I just did one today. The trick to make it flush also still works.

It'll fall through the floor if you move the raft while it's not yours.

I've tamed lots of things from dilos to rexes on rafts and only had one thing glitch out and sink. That happened when I ran up against the world edge and a megeloceros got pushed out of my pen.
I have also used a raft a lot and I do not agree with the comment that you cannot move the dino once knocked out. I always tame back at base.

Knocked out dino'sare fine to move but you must not clip any terrain (rocks etc) while doing so because otherwise the dino will snag onto that terrain.

This is just an issue of raft design and positioning so you can head directly out to sea once the tame is knocked out.

I raft tame as well. 4 rex tames to date with my current taming/base raft. The only issue I've had is that unconcious rex's seem to prevent my raft from moving. I'm not 100% sure why but I think the unconcious rex counts as more weight than an concious one, and due to my rafts size (increased structure limit) it puts my raft over weight. Everything smaller than a rex I've been able to move back to my central base location or closer to prime meat sources as necessary with no problems.
Don't even need a gate just put two high walls on the raft and lead the rex up and over. That way you don't have to worry with a gate.
Oh my.. many great ideas guys
:)
I just now having problem extending my raft.. I don't know why!! but it seems it doesn't want to extend much longer.. or i am doing something wrong.. I don't know.
My video documenting how to build taming ship. Successfuly used on Spinos and Rexes. Commentary is in Czech but you can just watch and learn IT IS not do hard. ..

I will attest to the fact that you CAN move the raft with a KO animal or alive/conscious. Just don't clip a rock and it will stay. I have done this with a doed and a pachyrhino. Have not tried a rex yet.

However, the animals inside your raft or Q platform WILL cause a bit of a glitch/stop when you are driving, anytime their (concious) body touches some wall section, so position does matter a bit.

Quetzal platforms, yes the animals will fall once you move it when it's KO and more likely when you move and it's still conscious.
A few things as I use rafts a lot on our server. You can move the raft with unconcious rex or other dinos on it, we often sail back to base and tame there with it. Also no need to remove walls or other parts to get something like a spino out, just sail into the side of a rock once they are tamed and they will clip out on to the rock. Need to sideswipe the rock so that the dino gets stuck on it. And confirmed, dont use wood at all. I actually had a bear sink my raft once as it glitched through to the back area by my hitting a rock and then it sunk the actual raft, quite a surprise when the raft exploded and I was face to face with it. That can be prevented by sinking the foundations to include the raft rather than building on top of it using stone..
Ive trapped a few rex on my raft you can move it once its knocked out. And to get them out just run your raft against some rocks or even the beach and it will pull it right out.
