rex Trapping raft
Hello my friends
my base is at the north west
I am searching for T-rex but they seems to be rare in my area or the ones which I have found was a low level rexes..
So i am thinking of building a trapping raft and go maybe to carno island to hunt one and drive it back to my base for safe taming.. is that possible to build a raft to capture rex with it?

Yes, since rexes fit through standard gates -- you can't place a behemoth gate on a raft.

Build a traping raft is indeed possible there are also tutorials on YouTube.
But the thing is I doubt you can move while the wild Rex (also if it's unconscious) is on you raft, otherwise it would glitch through the raft and into the water, at least that's what happens when you tame on a saddle platform.
You shouldn't really need to move the boat while the tame is happening. You lure the rex inside, close the doors, knock it out, tame it, and then you sail away after it's tamed. The same walls that trap the rex also protect it while it's unconscious.

Just don't build wood ;-)

Thanks guys..
but I saw a video on YouTube about extending my raft so i am thinking of building a big one and trap the rex inside and move to safe location to begin the taming party.. do you think the latest updates didn't prevent extending the raft?

I wouldn't really trust anything wild to stay put if you're moving it.
Better of tranqing on the spot and sail the tame home.

1) use stone
2) completely encase the raft well so it isn't damaged
3) at least 3-high walls all around the trap part (i like window walls for shooting the tame inside)
4) if you put a couple wood structures in there for it to chew on, he'll stay in one spot for a while and be easy to shoot while he gnaws on that. don't use wood for anything structurally important though.
5) once KO'd, you will not be able to move with it on the raft, it'll clip through. So park your raft at the south end of carno island so that it's in a relatively safe spot, and tame the rex on the raft there. Once tamed, you can drive it home on the raft. (rex's will fit through a regular stone/reinforced dino gate btw).

To be honest, on carno island there are a number of very safe places you can kite a rex to, and KO it from above, as long as you have a flier, and you manage to dismount without falling down to the rex. This is possible at the top of the island, or the cliff face at the south end of the island. Both those areas only very rarely have wild dino spawns running around. The cliff face at the south end is easier to dismount without falling down to the rex. I simultaneously tamed my 4 egg laying rex's in the safe portions of carno island without issue. getting a high level one would only require more time/kibble (but less flying back & forth to check tames). A trapping raft is still a good idea though for a high level tame, because of that dumb mechanic where they will run away before being KO'd, and sometimes manage to drown themselves to death.

Thanks for the useful tips..
but if I don't use kibbles I use prime meat.. that's why i choose carno island to harvest them while tamming the rex
I don't know how to make kibbles and I don't have the eggs

I don't know how to make kibbles and I don't have the eggs
Then you know your next goal after you get the hang of Rex taming :)

I meant eggs and kibble ;)
It takes a bit of taming but if you're after good rexes getting 10+ scorps will be a good investment.
If you're not going after top levels for breeding its not such a big deal though.
Just takes longer to tame, I've found bringing a long a preservation bin and some sparkpowder can be pretty handy to keep the prime around.

You need some preperation for it, all the details are on the wiki though, or even more handy, on the dododex app :)

Just so you know you can use a trapping raft for spinos as well but will need to demolish walls to get it out once finished can transport the rex/spino while its wild but you cant do it once knocked out as stated further up http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=772423443
