Small sparkling mosasaurus?
I was underwater when a small, sparkling mosasaurus started chasing me. I didnt know what was happening so I bravely ran away. It was no bigger than a Megalodon and had a strange colorful particle effect around it. What was up with it?

I thought they were passive. I personally have never seen a liopleurodon, so I wouldn't know.

They’re passive towards players but will attack tames, at least until you give them a couple of whacks and then they’ll do the poofy thang.

Hah, that is awesome. I didnt feel strong with my entourage I had with me so I just left :P Thanks everyone.
It's a liopluerodon, taming it gives a 5 minute loot boost to ALL loot drops. Not just the underwater ones.

Yeah, it's the disappointment of the deep. Sure the Liopleurodon has a really good loot bonus, but it is the ultimate example of a Dossier becoming completely useless. It is so unfortunate too, as it has the longest time between Dossier release and implementation for this game.

It was going to be a cool early aquatic tame that could help you get pearls and a decent amount of time before its release it appeared that it was going to be that based on the Devkit. It had so much work scraped so they could keep up with a stupid, long dead, meme. It is the only creature I don't appreciate to have in Ark, as the disappointment far outweighs the utility it can give.

Yep. Only food to tame it. Honey. How did it even learn honey was good to eat, it lives in the ocean. Super hard to find, lasts for an hour after being tamed. Super wussy. Not at all the size a liopleurodon would be (though ARK isn't entirely acurate). It has practically no relation to the Dossier either. The one creature I would rework. The seagulls and pegos are annoying as crap, but they can be managed. Its the Liopleurodon needs a makeover.
