is there a way to cashe the Mod data to speed up the load time and reduce in game lag?

I assume you're using an HDD. Switch to an SSD and its the difference between night and day.

I have ARK on my SSD, depending on the mod size it still takes a good amount of time to load them when joining a server. Not sure if there is really way to make it faster, but would be nice.

I play on 25+ mod servers. Before march loads with an HDD would take upwards of 10 min or more, especially with overhaul or heavy content mods like steampunk.

I've a 2tb ssd now and on a very good rig for it. Same amount and types of mods take less than a min to get me loaded in to a server. Most with ssd's report the same night and day differences. Why your ssd isnt the same I can only speculate. Are you using an ssd only for ark or some sort of hdd/ssd hybrid or other similar thing? If you're taking more than a min or two at most to load in to a server then there is something else at play such as your connection or some sort of issue on a server's side(and servers btw that I am loading in like this on are 4000+ miles away with 250-300 ping just so you know.

I have two of the highest performance SSD's on the market the (Samsung 850 Pro 1T) and a server Drive (OCZ Z-Drive R2 P88) 2TB, Im running on an 8 core with 4 dedicated, also have expanded memory slots, Loading This game shouldn't be an issue at all. Now if the game where designed to load mods differently that would make all the difference. What i was thinking is if a person wants to join a Building type server with say around 40+ mods The select server a box pops up collecting mod data, once the mods are downloaded and updated from steam then they will connect to the server itself instead of timing out ever 10 seconds because of mods.

The timing out you reference tends to be from -steams- downloading of mods though. If someone clicks on a server to join and hasnt downloaded those mods, they have to before connection can be completed. Since typically they take longer than the timer for joining a server, they time out and joining has to be redone over and over until all mods are downloaded.

That's really Steams fault/issue and not WC's and has to do with the workshop's architecture.

I have even built a collection of mods for downloading prior to connection and it still time outs on players trying to connect, they say it does it 2-3 times during the process. It just seems that if they Cashed the server mod list and preloaded before the connection too the game triggers it would load alot faster.
But what im suggesting is the game designers could do like some other games have done and had a 3 phase startup one click the server, cashe download-install, Then go to phase two load files, then fire up the game. It has been by several other games.
