Even for rocks and metal?
Also the trees next to my base respawn really really slow in a hugre area. Thereare some new trees here and there but it takes them about 4 ingame days and they don't respawn the way i chopped them down at all.
EDIT: "visits" meaning I left the area (far far away) and came back later
cheat giveitemnum 386 1 0 0
and spread it all over the place where the resource was. Second, every so often set the respawn rate to 0 before you log in. Fly or go past the areas you want to respawn, then relog with your normal respawn rates.
I have found that if I leave my ankylosaurus near the areas I have just mined, the resources will respawn after a couple in-game days. You need to be careful with this, because it's a good way to lose an ankylosaur. I need to experiment and see if it works for obsidian deposits as well. If so, I may leave a few dodos on top of the volcano.
I'd prefer not to use any "cheats", console commands or mess with the sliders... I'd like as "pure" as an experience as possible
i mean, they could just fix it can't they?
It is very unlikely that they are going to change this, since it has been an issue for so long. Your choices are to get used to limited resources, use the cheats, or try the thing I mentioned about leaving dinos near the resources.
To prevent this in future, just never log out before stuff has respawned.
I've not heard this before; that leaving tames in an area somehow "keeps it alive" and ticking. That's worth a test; I'd far prefer that method to messing with spawn rates or hanging around empty areas (although that last one isn't so bad; one can always amass wood/stone).

I may be overly optimistic, though.

Be careful what you wish for as i have known this game to be pure cr*# on occasion!!
After playing this from early ea you may change your mind on that in a few months time! tbh I no longer view it as "cheating" if the item is meant to be there yet the program fails you ..... i also have the fallout series and sometimes ....unless you are happy to have a bugged quest forever the console HAS to come out ...even if only to reset.... in all the hours i have played this on the three profiles(2 servers +this one) i have I can honestly recommend learning console for ark! .....whether you "cheat" or not is on you but on occasion it will save you losing HOURS or even DAYS of work to KNOWN bugs ....i know ...my first experience was losing a legit (fully standard no mods official) lvl 85 character to being stuck to a rock on a mountain ....console wouldn't help me there but with all these updates and breakages it is certainly possible it will re appear and if you are solo would you really enjoy that "purity" of totally pointless loss of all your grind for not even having made a mistake? ijs is all ark really is not so "black and white" as other games I only tell you this for your own good but as with all advice you are free to take / leave it as you see fit best wishes and enjoy your new game :)
