[SOLVED] CPU makes weird noises when I'm in the start menu
So everytime I start the game my CPU makes weird noises and I'm not sure if I should be scared or not. This only happens when I start ARK, never had this noise in any other game. So I was wondering what the problem is and if it is the CPU Cooler (which I think is the problem), should I buy a new one?

The noises are basically at the start a louder sound and then when that disapears there randomly comes not so loud sounds at random times. The loud sound reaches over 70dB for about 4 seconds or more. As I said it is only at the start menu. My computer usually works a lot when I play higher demanding games such as GTA V and Black Ops III which means louder fans but that sound is not at all like the weird noise when I start ARK.

Computer Specs incase if needed:

GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 1080 AERO OC 8GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 Skylake Prosessor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120V v2 CPU Cooler
PSU: Corsair CX750M, 750W PSU
Motherboard: ASUS Z170-E, Socket-1151
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR4 2133MHz 32GB (4x8)
SSD: Samsung 750 EVO 500GB 2.5" SSD
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5"

EDIT: For anyone with this problem, this is a possible fix.

Go to Steam>steamapps>common>ARK>ShooterGame>Saved>Config>WindowsNoEditor

Then open GameUserSettings.ini with wordpad. Then press Ctrl + F. Search Vsync.

It will find the "bUseVSync=False". Change False to True and the weird sound problem
should be fixed when you start the game.

Check your cpu temps while running ark.

Mine had a stock cooler and made a racket (hit 80c) .... swapped it out for this https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Cooling/CPU-Coolers-WATER/66038-DP-GS-H12RL-MS240T-RED/?member_pricing=true

And now its quiet as.

May not be your cooler... but id check cpu temps

For the record, ARK is about as high-demand as games get. Due to piss-poor optimization, but still.

I would check fan curves and make sure all of your drivers are up to date.
I haven't had any ark-specific issues with any of my CPUs.

i would think it may be your cooler also, or more specifically your cooler fan

as others suggest check your temps and/or fan curves but you might also look to make sure there is no dust blocking the air passages (laptop) or the cpu fan and heatsink (desktop) this can also make your fans louder

I've tried testing the tempeture at the start screen and ingame and it is not that bad.

Start Screen
CPU had 39C - 41C and only worked at 20%
GPU had 65C - 79C and only worked at 0%

Ingame
CPU had 40C - 41C and only worked at 21%
GPU had 75C - 82C and worked at 99%

Also a funny thing I found out is that the wierd sound ONLY happens when the fps on the start screen goes over 550. So I was thinking, enabling V-SYNC in the game settings might fix my problem. Should probably have paid more attention to that.

But it doesn't really make sense why there would be a weird sound then since the CPU and GPU worked normally without any changes in tempeture or how much they both worked when it went up to 550 FPS.

Worth trying I guess.
I always used vsync with nvidia, and now I use an AMD GPU which cuts its performance back if it gets above a target framerate.

The use of V-SYNC worked and the sound did not happen. So I guess I kinda fixed my own problem then. Did not expect this outcome lmao.

It's the gpu that makes the noise i think.

My GPU is very quiet.
