Should i join an unofficcial or official server?

So, i used to play ark back on the day when the Giga got released, and now looking at some trailers it looks awesome and i downloaded it again.

But, should i go to an official server? I used to play on official but i remember that taming a lvl 7 rex took me like 4 hours the first time, and i dont know if it is still the same.

Also, any advice for a guy that is coming back to ark?

I recommend unoffical. Better rates, no issues with tame limits, servers will good admins/mods will be able to solve issues much faster than WC will be able to on officials. There are many different unoffical servers, its all about finding what you like.

Go unofficial. If you can find a good admin and community you'll have a much better time, given that a lot of Official servers have become quite grindy, with not a lot of support and generally a cap in place.

Depends if you want enjoy the game unofficial if you want suffer and hate the game official.

Official servers are having a lot of problems, from lag to tame limits being capped or toxic pvp environments. I would look for an unnoficial that has an active community and admins.

Official servers if you like large tribal warfar. Unofficial if you prefer solo/small tribe game play. Even a tribe for 40 people will have trouble on official if you don't have megatribe aflication.

Ark's focus is on modded content and customized play. If that is what interests you, then join the majority of ark players playing across 20,000+ unofficial servers. Even the devs encourage players to play on unofficial servers.

If you prefer basic game function servers that are little more than demonstration servers and done so by intent by the devs(partially to encourage what I mentioned above), then you join the minority and slog through on one of the less than 700 current official servers.

if you go solo on server you also can try singleplayer, they added settings for it to make it les grindy for sp. and you can set the .ini to your likes. Playing with a few friends, think on getting a server yourself.

If you like the feeling of an online game go offical .. theres just tons problems sadly.
If you prefer a bit less problems risk playing unoffical
( to face different problems though )

Tbh to get the max out of it i d join an offical alphatribe and run your own server paralell.
So you become one of those 20 k ghost hosts but you have at least a reliable place to tryout new and old features.

At this point, I would start on unofficial. Officials have some issues right now, and new changes are coming up that may be better or worse.

One thing that's great for new people coming back to Ark is an easy way to level up. There are now "Explorer Notes" at all the ruins around The Island and Scorched Earth. Each one gives you instant xp and 10 minutes of double xp. Get a bunch all in a row without dying and you can be level 50 to 70 in less than 2 hours.

Easy way.

Click View in Top upper left corner when in Library.
Click Servers
Click the Favorites Tab at the top
Click add server in lower right corner
click ADD SERVER
IP:45.63.71.133:21001
Click add to favorites.

You can join from there or open ark and choose faves in your server selection tool on bottom left. Pick faves and it should pop up.

Unofficial if you want to have "any" fun.
