Penguin Breeding/Harvesting Question
So I am playing on an unofficial server with 2x gathering and I am trying to build a self supplying little farm for organic polymer. I have read on multiple threads across the internet that baby penguins give the most polymer and that some people keep ready-to-hatch eggs in their fridge for when they need polymer. So when I hatch an egg and I get a male (only really need one male so the rest I sacrifice) I kill them and harvest them. I have tried different methods such as a high level moschops, Pelagornis, ascendant club, and so forth. I am only getting like 5-15 polymer! There is a couple other methods I haven't tried yet, but as it stands I don't think those methods will work much better either. Though I still plan on testing them once I get more eggs.

So my question(s) is:

1. Did they nerf the amount of polymer you get from hatched baby penguins or am I missing something?

2. Have any of you been successful at creating a large penguin farm for massive polymer production? If so what methods do you use to harvest them? How many do you kill? (damn this sounds morbid)

3. Does stats matter here? I know food and health on an Ovis effect wool growth and mutton. Does this same principle apply to the penguins? If so what stat should I be buffing? Currently they are sitting at their base state after tame. I only tamed 140-150 penguins.

In the meantime I will stick with Therizino farming Mantis on Rag. Moschops gets more per harvest but Therizino is faster and Moschops A.I is too sporadic.

Anyways, any help in advance is greatly appreciated.

Achatinas are better if you can make cakes. Ive like 10-12 achatinas and have tried the penguin breeding aswell and my personal conclusion is achatinas are better. They just do it passivelly all the time.

Craft the rabbit from S+, put salt inside of it and done.

For myself.

1) level up moschops for only organic polymer harvesting
2) pick up any pengu with flyer, fly over moschops and kill pengu
3) dead pengu drops near moschops, whistle it aggressive, it eats it for max polymer.

I've tried several times with the whole breeding/hatching thing but its much quicker if you can set up a moschops holding pen with the roof open near a good pengu spawn spot, and use method above.

If you can't put a moschops pen near pengu spawn, the achatina method noted above is good to.

Thanks a ton for the advice. I had a similiar idea with the moschops. I was going to create a pen with two turrets (one for each angle) and drop mantis or penguins in. The turrets would kill the mantis or penguin and the moschops would automatically be on aggressive to harvest. This in theory would allow me to just continue flying by dropping in things. However this requires ammo which isn't a big deal, but I am consuming another resource to gain a resource. Plus there is the chance the moschops will just get in the way and get killed.

i have a couple snails too, maybe I need to tame a bunch more.

Also, Moschops behavior is kinda weird.

they won't attack anything, on aggressive they will run away, so make sure the pengus are dead before you set them for aggressive.

I've whistled aggressive, they eat, then whistle them passive again for the next feeding.

That seems like a very inefficant way to get polymer. Making it from obsidian seems eaiser and it won't spoil

The BP's that I am using require a massive amount of polymer so I am relying on both organic and non-organic. Regular polymer also requires cementing paste which is used for a plethora of other things, so it feels counter intuitive to use one resource to gain another when I need them equally.

Yeah I have found that the moschops is sporadic with how effective it is. Originally I was flying around with a wyvern killing mantis then dropping him near the corpse and whistling for him to attack. More often than not it resulted in him running in a random direction and I would have to whistle for him to stop.

Personally I usually just agther it via a wyvern and a slaughter of mantis.

Sometimes I'll do the actual gathering with a chainsaw tho

Though the Wyvern is clearly faster in terms of killing, it doesn't have the greatest harvesting amount when it comes to organic polymer. A high level Power Therizino dropped in by a Wyvern though tends to do well. As far as the chainsaw, I am going to need to respec for melee I assume. I haven't tested it yet.

With 100% melee you get about 2 to 3 times as much poly compared to a wyvern. Last I used it.

I am lvl 100 so I will respec and see what it's like with a high melee character
