Metal spikes.
So, I looked around the net about an answer but I found only old posts about this subject so I try to discover if the metal spike get some rework.
I readed that they are basically useless if not for prevent flyers to land cuz don't damage wild dinos (actually brontos step on it without taking any damage wtf) but do damages to you and tamed dinos, even if are easily destuctible.
So I guess they haven't changed a lot about it, then I wonder to know if they are a suitable defence to put on the cliffsides for prevent dinos (and players) to jump down on my head.

Sorry for my bad grammar, peace.

Hey broham, so metal spikes do more damage and are harder to destroy compared to wood spike walls, but the server you are playing on must have the setting for them to hurt wild Dino’s off.

It is my local server and I am pretty sure it isn"t an issue of settings cause when I try to bring the wilds into spike traps they die.
I just guess Ark is setted as for don"t hit wild neutral creatures.
Then I am trying to understand if do a protective wall wort the time or not.

Tried stacking them onto little platforms?

Correct,

They wont damage dinos unless they are aggrod to you and attacking.
We used to use a spike wall trap at early levels to lure dinos in so we speared them to death and they died quickly with the spike walls.

For a protective wall they wont hurt neutral non-attacking dinos, but depending how they are placed, dinos can still walk over them.

I would recommend using fence foundations to set up a taller protective barrier using walls, then put the spikes outside that for any aggressive dinos.

It's a setting, and it works fine. My spikes damage wilds and then they starts to attack my spikes, most died.

When did the setting go for only attacking wild Dino’s? If setting is enabled, then all Dino’s and models in game will be damaged, if it is off, then nothing but tamed and players. Not sure of a change in this. Spiked wall spam around your hut is easiest way to protect your home early off, and ways later game for mild protection

Is it a setting to put into .ini or is it one of the switchables before launch the map?
I never noticed it tbh.

It is a .ini setting, never done single player so not 100 on if it was added for ease on your options menu.
