Personally, i think ark went wrong (not saying its bad) with advanced tech. It should have stayed primitive with simple machines like windmills, water wheels and such. No guns, automated turrets, tek stuff ect. Instead focusing more on indept crafting for those primitive things.
I wouldn't be playing it then. What's wrong with having more options?
It was always meant to be this way and the advanced tech is was makes ARK unique from other dinosaur survival games. The tech and the Dino riding is what makes ark what it is
No, you are just confused with the various cycles of a game's development because most games don't make their development stage open to the public but Ark did and that's what we played for 2 years. By your logic, Diablo 3 was an 11 year old game when it was released.
But OP here's the thing, when Ark was in development all anyone spoke about in these forums was how WC was taking too long to develop the game and demanding they release the game ASAP so this concept of devs having the option to "take their time" is pure fantasy. Even the gaming media crucified them for a relatively short development cycle and then they crucified them for releasing a game that wasn't finished.
Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
Maybe I expected too much or maybe they dreamed too big but either way, the result is the same; a sub-par game riddled with bugs and glitches that the devs do not seem interested in fixing. Only releasing more bug filled content that they want us to pay for and will likely never fix.
Well, fine. There are hundreds of games out there based on extreme futuristic mega weapons and big ugly bosses. And those games do that so much better than Ark. Why not go play those games?
Many of the problems/complaints with Ark are based on those mega weapons and big ugly bosses.... jet packed Master Chiefs coming up against loin clothed spear chuckers on the beach. This is made worse by the amount of time needed to advance.
The game has changed greatly since Summer of 2015. It used to be a slow strategic progression of survival. Now, with the ability to dramatically and rapidly increase experience, the survival mode is just a few hours. From that point on it's just accumultate the appropriate HP and melee.
The devlopers don't seem to have a well thought out coherent vision of what the game was to be.
Consequently, it is becoming a poorly done mish mash of several different games, none of which arte done well.
