Lagging and Yo-yo

So I came back to playing after a few months of not touching this game. And it seems worse. The dinos seem to lag a lot. And when i smack a dino and it gets knocked back it instantly yo-yos right back to where it was. The whole game seems laggier than it was before. WTH

Do you use startup options? if so remove em all, what system do you have and what graphic level are you running? (low-med-high. I also came back after a coupl eof months and my experience has been 10 times better.

startup options? You mean the different ways to launch the game? No. I just use the regular launcher like i used to. And all my graphics are set to low. My rig is a quad i7, 8 gigs of ram, and a GTX 860 i think.

ah so you have a laptop. seems the 800 series only have mobile cards, Nvidia skipped to 900 series for desktops. When was teh last time you updated the nvidia drivers?

laptop? No its a desktop. Double checked and its a 960. And I already did a verify of the game files. didnt seem to change anything. It feels like a lag issue but im connected just fine. and my internet isnt slow.

Ye then its probably network server related. Do you still hav elag when ya connect to a different server and are you on offcial servers?

yeah I've only been playing on official. singleplayer isnt a challange i dont like the idea of jumping on a server where my progress can be erased by someone's bad day and a few commands. whats wrong with official?

Official is the laggiest game experience you will ever encounter, it has always been this way and will be unlikely to change any time soon.
Also your 8GB of RAM likely isn't helping you, most anyone will tell you that 16GB is the minimum you should have playing ARK because of the occasional Leaks and the massive amounts of things you'll have to be loading, especially on an Official Server.

While UnOfficials do run the risk of their Server Owners giving up on them, they are considerably more stable and far less laggy. Even despite 99% of them being modded, have far less issues than Official Servers.

Either way you go, you're taking a chance.
With Officials you're accepting the fact that you are likely to lag, lose dinos/characters without any chance of replacement due to bugs/errors, servers crashing left and right and rolling back sometimes days at a time.
With UnOfficials you're running the risk of the Owner giving up on the server altogether and shutting-down, abusive admins (who cheat like mad), etc;

But you'll find better community as a whole on UnOfficials too, and there are good servers out there who won't shut-down any time soon and non-abusive admin.
Personally I play this game 24/7 when I am not working, and stand by the "as long as there is 1 player online atleast once a week, I don't shut down" rule. I don't like disappointing folks, I wouldn't want someone else doing that to me. :'( But I play so much I doubt that I'd want to shut-down ever. xD

When you launch, choose the Low Memory Option (4GB), it may help you. The most you will notice is that your rocks and things don't "burst into pieces" when you break them, but you'll gain performance.

You're more than welcome to, though keep in mind it's new and population isn't currently very high as a result.

I run Ark single and multiplaer with 8gb ram and its hardly ever laggy! It seems to run smooth for me so far.
