It won't change your game so much but your fps will become way better
Your GPU is your bottleneck. Laptop videocards really arent that great in most machines. When i used to use a GTX 760, id typically get around 40-50fps on medium settings. There is very minor differnce between the 760 and 960 class of GTX cards. Now when its the "M" class your quality will drop.
Im currently ona 1070 right now and usually get around 70 to 100fps, on high to ultra settings. frame drops depending on certain parts of the map.
Bottom line, dont do Ark on a laptop if you can help it.
After that it's up to your machine, make sure laptop is plugged in not in battery, no background tasks etc.
