for kibble yes, for anything else no

I suppose you could have a real raiders of the lost ark style snake pit...

I think it is. Taming them is relatively easy on fert bronto or rex eggs. And the kibble they produce is useful. For fighting or a 'snake pit', no. Not worth it.

but what if I want to drop dinos picked up by my flyers and watch them be devoured?

Im still on the fence.

I havent recieved a single egg from my snakes that ive tamed ages ago.

in the past was good the eggs, expensive and rare, now you can trade all the super dinos and you dont need to waste your time with titanoeggs

Once they change the boa's to NOT killing and eating the wild dino's, I'm sure it will be a thing, like a snake pit to knock out a dino. Not sure about this one happening, but they did say it was coming.

i tamed 8 boas so far, they lay eggs but very very slow.
Got like 4 eggs from them in total now ...

They have an issue laying eggs when not on wander, I put mine in a pit on wander and I am getting eggs much faster now. just make them a tunnel of love to slither around in.

I'd like to point out I tamed them about a week ago and I have about 10 eggs from 4 boas. I think someone mixed the breeding coding and the normal egg laying codes by mistake. Though I do know some mods will effect it if you have any tame everything, egg modifiers, or resource type mods.. all it took was a quick uninstall reinstall of the mods and as of yesterday my boas dropped 3 eggs.

That may just be me but try it out and see if that fixes it for you.

Boas get knocked back by everything, so they usually can't land more than 1 hit. No saddle, no armor. Crappy health. And most dinos are immune to the venom anyway.

(Or it would take 1,000 bites to do anything.)

I was so happy to have tamed a lvl 150 boa. Fed it wyvern eggs. Let it out of the pen, had it on follow towards my base...and it was immediately destroyed by a lvl 20 sarco.
Dead before i could turn around. :(

In Digest 49 they responded to someone asking:

"So now when titanboa's are tameable, is there possibilaty to add them some sort of turret mode? Like they only bite until target is unconscious? That way we can have pits full of snakes and drop dino's in.”

with a:

"Yeah, we’ll add a general AI option for dinos to only attack Conscious targets."
