Otter Starvation

Is it just me or do they need to be feed way more often than everything else? I get that they only eat fish, but they seem to need to eat way more often than everything else.

Also, side note, the fact that they're listed as "Omnivore" but only eat fish is super annoying. Even the penguins will eat any meat.

Otters arent the only ark creature that eat only fish. Also remember if you're putting it in a feeding trough and other dinos are around, the fish are eaten by all meat eaters first before regular meat because of the food values.(ie lowest food value consumed first and fish are lower than reg meat). Thus your other tames may be competing with the otters for the food and causing the otters to starve because the others eat it before they do.

It is important to also note that you need to park those fish only eating dinos far from any other troughs as the overlap radius can make the other dinos still eat first from the fish one set.

I just learned the solution to this yesterday. I was having the same problem with my ichthyornis. Solution: make a second feeding trough and use the radial menu to set it to include only otters and any other critter who can only eat fish. Then fill that trough with fish.
Additionally if you need more fish easily, tame an ichthyornis (a low level one, anything over about lvl 50 takes forever to land). They are shoulder pets who will catch fish for you if you set them to "hunt and retrieve" + aggressive.
