Why is wild Rex so underpowered?

I just had an "scary" encounter with a wild Rex, it slammed me in the water and dismounted me from my Argy who was passive btw. I started to swim towards the shore with my 40 armor fur gear and tanked the rex (I have 300hp).. I could literally tank around 5-10 hits from the rex and after that outrun it with 100% moving speed?? Who decided to make that huge scary beast weaker than a Hyaenodon pack or a single Troodon? Disappointment levels over 9000

hes not underpowered you just had 300 hp and good armor thats it
if i had 150 hp with leather armor (or whatever its called) he would have killed me instantly

300hp and 40 armor against a killing machine size of a 2 story house doesnt sound good enough.. Rex should be buffed imo, now it's just a sad weak meatsack

I wouldn't.. I played this game back then and they were a lot scarier.. and i mean that in a good way. Nowadays you could most likely melee fight rex with good pike or sword.. and thats just sad

i remember back in 2016 the rex was op and killed7 dinos and destroyed my wooden house idk about now because i stopped playing ark

What level was it? It really is the determining factor for anything in this game, as a level 1 Rex is childsplay. With what stats you have, a Rex in the ~80 mark would one shot you with the armor you had.

Assuming 15 levels into melee (which is probably pretty average for a level 80, obviously could be higher or lower though) it would take a wild Rex 9 hits to kill him.

Base damage: 62
Wild levels 3.1 * 15 = 46.5
Total absolute damage = 62+46.5 = 108.5
Damage reduction from armor equals 66%
Or Health lost = damage / ((Armor rating / 100)+1)
A full set of fur gives 200 armor.
(200/100) + 1 = 3
Health lost = damage / 3

Plugging in the assumed damage of the Rex that's
108.5 / 3 = 36.1666

His health of 300 would therefore be able to keep him alive for eight hits, dying on the ninth.

In order for him to get one shot by a Rex you would need the Rex to have a base damage of 900

That would require 271 levels into melee, a stat that is not even remotely possible on an official or most unofficial servers.

It was 90 something, didnt look too closely becouse i paniced and shot it down xd

2. Rex you fought is not the same prehistory rex you, outside of the game, have come to know from movies or fossil records. Its a construct of the same tech that evolved you in the ♥♥♥♥ deus speciation. Thus again suspend disbelief.

3. Its a game. Suspend disbelief otherwise you're just going to drive yourself nuts.

But still cmon.. its huge, it can fit you in its mouth in 1 piece, it has sharp as ♥♥♥♥ teeth and yet even a couple of wolves are more dangerous.. only thing that's scary in this game anymore is giga and wolf packs.. and of course troodon unless you pump all your stats in fortitude

There's no "c'mon". Your character is a speciation: ♥♥♥♥ Deus, essentially "godlike". Final Ascension boss(Overseeer) and us are constructed of the same sort of technological evolement, really.
