another common issue is mods. Do you have mods installed or did you try to join a server with mods? (even attempting to join a server with them, will automatically try to install them)
It could be that your rig is having trouble if you have your settings too high for it to handle, its not powerful enough to run the game, or your internet is too slow and causing the Disconnects.
Have you been able to play the game before for a good length of time?
How crowded is the official server you are on?
That could cause some issues with D/Cing as well. Lots of dinos/buldings can cause rendering lag and eventually disconnects when mixed with a low to mid range computer.
maybe try a different server or 2 just to verify this, but essentially you may be stuck untill the servers get better (if they ever do)
im sorry that doesnt really help you much though
my wife is having a problem on a server recently started again by a friend.... we both play on it, and I don't have any connection problems.
but for her, when she tries to open a drop, or an obelisk terminal, she disconnects.
her computer runs the game just fine. wired connection. previously connected to ARK and other game servers hosted on the exact same hardware/internet connection as this problem is occurring on, without incident.
Well, unless we're counting out the rule that everything is OK in Singleplayer, which is definately not mentioned here. But still, lets not jump to conclusions here.
Especially since I amounted that many hours or more on 7FPS MAX when I first got ARK on a toaster potato PC.
Nothing can be ruled out entirely without PC specs, and/or trial of Single Player/UnOfficial.
Everyone wants to first assume this is a WC issue without question, because that's easy. But if you want a real solution, we need real useable information to help.
Playing any game on WiFi is never suggested either, it could very well be nothing more than your internet connection. DC'd is more often than not due to your Internet Connection with the server.
Too little information to be able to pin point your issue. Without knowing the server's list of mods being used, and the specific specs of your wife's comp its becomes unlikely we can start to give suggestions of where the issue is occurring.
At the top of your Steam Client you'll find "Help" under that menu is "System Information".
That should do just fine to help understand what you're running on.
As far as Wifi, a hard-cable (ethernet plugged into your router/modem) is typically the preferred way you wanna go.
I don't think theres any mods.
I3-4170,
GTX 960, 4gb
8gb ram
Windows 10.
nothing particularly unusual one way or the other. no spec changes lately as far as I know. I don't think we've tested to see if it does the same thing on official or single player.
Was there a recent attempt at uploading/downloading anything from a drop/obelisk prior to the dcing?
I don't think so, will have to give that a shot.
and I don't believe so. pretty sure this has been a problem since the first try at accessing those on this server.
