[SOLVED] Snow/Ice Biomes OP. Any tips for surviving?
I have 40 fort, full fur armor.. I die whenever I go to the cold areas of Rag. Trying to get ice wyvern eggs, and it's brutal (SP but I guess it would be difficulty 5 in MP, max 150 normal spawns). First time I died and lost all my stuff, I thought it was a bug because I just died instantly from full to nothing. Second time I watched it closely and it was definitely not a bug, it went from snowflake to ice cube and instantly drained my HP down to nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Keep your torch out and wear an otter. If you're using engram quality fur, try to go get better quality.

Thanks.. I guess I'll look for an otter. "MurderSnow" is a slower, but still significant drain, "Murder Murder Snow" is insta-death at this point. Feels like the map creators are trolling with that nonsense.

Wear fur and take an otter with you plus custom consumables. If you're willing to spend some time grinding XP, do a mindwipe of a high level character (between 90-95 is preferable) and stack all of your points into crafting speed, then make custom recipes that focus on health regen and food.

Eh, I appreciate it, but if I can't make it with an otter, fur, 40 fort, I'm just going to skip them. Wyverns are a pain enough raising solo and throwing away tranqs on females, without the added headache of difficulty getting the eggs.

I can appreciate that. Snow biomes have always been murderous lol. Having custom food is well worth it though, as it takes a lot of grind out of surviving generally for a small amount of effort. :)

This is the best option.

If you are riding a Quetzal (or any other platform mount), build walls and a roof around the rider position to create indoor insulation.

Yep there is some effort in being able to survive in murder murder snow. Different ways to get there. I farmed better quality fur through loot beacons but if people say otter works, I guess it does. From memory I have about 1200 insulation and don't get any debuff.

I really wouldn't bother with it. The Ice Wyvern itself isn't that great and the time I have spent looking for a good egg I would have easily found a 190 at the Volcano and that's not even considering how much time I spent farming loot crates.

wuvern milk also help for insulation ^^

Ended up getting a 150, it doesn't save you from "Murder Murder Snow" but Full fur, 40 fort, and an otter will save you from MurderSnow, making you just cold. I was able to go from murdersnow to murdersnow and finally got one. I don't need anything higher :P

Stay away from it until you have fur gear and a tamed quetzal, then go explore it

Cheapest and easiest solution is to throw down beds everywhere (especially just before your about to die), I used to absolute hate the increased food usage due to cold, it would get to the point that your char was constantly grunting it needed food (after eating 5 steaks less than several minutes previous) and all it seems I was doing was rushing from bush to bush harvesting berries to feed my face (BORING!!!!) detracting from doing more fun things in the game.

Got to the point I just turned of my sound and refused to eat.
Was quicker to just place a bed and die to regrab my stuff (harvest body for some free meat) and continue.
