Single Player new character

So I read that you can only have a player per server.

I am not really sure if that applies to single player mode. I have an advanced character in the Island and I want to make a new character WITHOUT killing this one. I dont need them to coexist in the same map, just to be able to play two different stories. (Like in many games you can have different paralel characters).

Is that possible?

If I am understanding you correctly, you want to make a new character on the same map of the previous one, but still keep your previous one as well? Sadly this is not possible, creating the new character overwrites the previous one's data. You can, however, make a new character on a different map than the original, and it will not overwrite the original.

I want to make a different character in the Island, but not necessarily the same map. I dont expect the buildings or old things to be there, just the oportunity to replay the Island without distroying the previous game,

just backup your savefiles... and let ark generate new ones?

To be fair, a lot of games are that way, its not just ark.

From what I understand, if you upload your current character via an obolesk then you can create a new character on the map. However, when you want your old one back you will have to then upload the new one and then you can download your old one. Easy, right?

You can only have one character on a map at a time... so the only way around it is to upload one and then play with the other. NONE of the information from one character will show up with the other... but it sounds like you are OK with that.

You can upload the main character and start a new one but all your old stuff will be there from.the previous character. If you wipe the map data you lose the old character though. Swapping between characters requires you to upload them the swap by downloading.

You can write a small batch file that renamed the local.arkprofile character file to something else then let the game generate a new character for you. You can then have another batch file (or the same one of you are really good at writing batch files) to rename the arkprofiles back and forth every time you want to switch. You would have to quit out of the game to rename the files before reloading, but most games require you to log out to some extent to change characters.

cut and paste your original save into a file you put in save location then just write a new character .....it'll be savedarks local why do you need a batch file? ........takes a second to do manually just remeber to keep your backup updated and switch at will or has this changed recently? just shortcut the location if it makes it easier ! ok not perfect but a workaround ..... well listed in google too

You want a new character at the same level as your current one on your current map? Or do you want to new character to start with zero experience but in the same map?

I have ark on the ps4 and i love it alot to the point where i have three different profiles for different characters. I have a total of 12 characters plus the procedural map characters.as u can tell i keep myself busy as u can see. I m also new to the community and im a juggalo whoop whoop. Any juggalos in the community pls hit me up.

Copy/Paste the entire contents of that folder to a fresh folder on your Desktop and then delete the contents inside this folder.

Log into single player and the save will be clean and you can start fresh.

When you want to play the old character again, move the stuff from the desktop folder back inside after moving the newer one to another blank file on your desktop.

Viola, multiple saves on the Island

Hello, guys. I got specific problem... Just play single game with my son... char was around lvl 97, a lot of dinos, structures, etc. One day a son play alone...when i'm back.... char is lvl 2... just like new character.... but we are still in same game... our dinos and structures is here.... but we cant enter or ride on dino.... How can i take back lvl 97 char? How can my son do this? I cant understand that :(
