Can't Connect ARK to Servers by IP
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me with the problem i've been having. I just want to join an Ark server (I'm pretty sure my issue isn't Ark specific) that can only be joined by IP, except when I go to View, Servers, Favorites, Add a Server, and I add the server (I have tried with many others also) it says that the server is "Not Responding." I've tried this with SO MANY servers and it happens to every single one. All help is EXTREMELY appreciated.

Best Regards

ok so whenever you paste the address in to the servers part of steam, just go back to top ark servers, look straight above the ip and you should see "Query Port" that is the server port for instance the ip of the server i was trying to join is 192.82.109.165:7580 however the query port is 7590 so at the end of that ip i would just need to change the number outside of the brackets to the query port number. hope this helped!

Trying doing it through steam and make sure you're using the right port. There are two, usually you need to put in the query port to see the server

First off, thanks so much for responding!

I have been doing it through Steam. I don't know what you mean by this: "make sure you're using the right port. There are two, usually you need to put in the query port to see the server." What I do is find the server I want to join on ArkServers.net, then copy the IP, I go to Steam, View, Servers, Favorites, Add A Server, then I paste the IP in. For example, this is one of the servers i've been trying to join: 193.70.80.168:9999. After I press Add Server, I'll refresh my Favorites, and it will just show the IP of the server on the favorites page, and Not Responding under the game collumn. This isn't a problem with the server, i've tried with about 20 other servers.

What am I doing wrong? :steamsad:

Quick update: I've tried adding servers for other games, such as CS:GO and Garry's mod, which worked, even though I don't own CS:GO!

It seems to be a problem with adding ARK servers. Does anyone know what to do? I can add servers every other game i've tried, bu every single ARK server I add to favorites says Not Responding...

What I do is find the server I want to join on ArkServers.net, then copy the IP, I go to Steam, View, Servers, Favorites, Add A Server, then I paste the IP in. Either that server isn't up or its just using the wrong port number. The number that comes after the colon is the port number. So like for example a standard ark server uses two ports, 7777 for the server port and 27105 for the query port so other applications like steam can see it.

When you're adding that into steam you'd put in 193.70.80.168:27015 that way steam can see there is an ark server there. If you put in 193.70.80.168:7777 Steam would just say its not responding.

So your address is using port 9999 which is likely the server port, you need to find out what the query port is and put that instead of 9999.

I can't see anything using that info either so its either not the right connection info or the server isn't online.

Woohooo a year later someone finally has a solution :steamfacepalm:

Hi everyone,

I'm having this same problem; and, the solution is not helping me. I have tried both ports in the server config and even tried the RCON port. I still cannot find the server. Three of my friends have also tried to find the server with no success, either.

When we do add the server to the Steam Servers list, it tells us to download the dedicated server from Steam and launches that instead of the game.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance! :-D

ARK causes this problem for a lot of people, for example me and a couple of friends cannot find our own server in the server list regardless of filters applied, to join the server we had to add to steam servers manually, quickly hit the refresh server button and connect before it fails to validate the server, pretty ♥♥♥♥♥ really but its wildcard,

if 27015 is not working then try 27115, refresh the server list and see if it shows up, even briefly before disappearing again, if it disappears and does not remain after refreshing then you need to right click it quickly and select connect, it is the only way 2 of us can play the game :P

Also One Sharp Marine is this your own server you are trying to connect to? is it unofficial?

Hi Reggie,

Yes, I've tried every port possible for the game listed in the known ports list for ARK. Yes, it's my own server.

The game has been out for 4+ years. This should NOT be an issue.

We have tried downloading the dedicated server app via Steam's interface and via SteamCMD, both with the same problem.

It isn't an issue for the vast majority of thousands upon thousands of servers.

Most threads I see discussing this issue it comes down to a couple of situations... Either port forwarding is done wrong, or other ISP issues preventing communication on that port.

Or alternatively they are using webroot. Uninstall it.

But as this is an old thread and the OP has marked their answer... If you are still having issues it's best to start your own discussion so people can discuss your specific situation without taking over this one ;-)

May be unrelated but webroot blocks steam servers so you may want to uninstall that if you are using it.

No, I'm not using webroot.

I had this problem when i first started playing i finally found the solution after a year of play clicking refresh on my clusters transmitter a million times just to get the server i wanted to join... apparently if you have any antivirus other than windows defender they block steam from allowing it to look for servers, the second i turned off my antivirus all the servers came up instantly.. hope this helps you :)
