Yes, with one exception. You cannot click on the dedicated server button in the game on Steam. You have to run a seperate anonymous dedicated server either with batch files for using something that makes it simple like ARK Server Manager.

Yeah no problem, it doesn't even need much resources. I was running a dedi on same machine as game with 8gb ram (i5) without issue, upgraded to 16gb recently but was surprised how low your specs can be for the setup.

I used Ark Server Manager to run the dedi and then log into the game normally and the server will appear in the LAN server list.....or you can forward ports to make it public.

Yeah you can. To get the best results you can try 2 things.

1. Run the game in low memory mode when you play. My server uses about 4gb ram idle and adds about 2gb per person connected.

2. If you have others join the server go into task manager and make the server high priority. That way others shouldn't experience stuttering as much.

8gb ram will only support about 3 players comfortably when playing on the host pc. If you have 16gb ran still run in low memory. Server uses different amount of ram each time

Quad core is much better and that's what I basing that on.

My server uses about 2-3GB of ram with 4 people playing. Never has it exceeded 4GB

fair enough. How are you running the server?

I do non-dedicated with a few players with tether distance to about infinity. I have 32gb Ram and good hardware though

LOL. I'm using a i7 2600 16gb ram. I also play off the same pc. It wasn't the best CPU but it has kept up with the newer ones.

Edit: bloody auto correct
