What are the rates people want to see on unofficial servers
What rates do you like to see when you join a server?

I liked this one unofficial server I had found, 3x all with structures plus and that was about it, but when they changed the server search functions recently and I could no longer search by survivor, I lost the ability to find that server, my stuff is probably gone by now :p

Really depends... some like 50+, others like lower rates of 1-5x.

Just remember that higher rates require occasional wipes, so a “seasonal“ server wipe (like some YouTubers have) would be good.

With 70k concurrent player hitting rates and thus much more playing around the clock daily and the fact that there are 26000+ unofficial servers out there all with different rates, your asking here is not really going to give you even remotely an accurate sampling of preferences.

I would also add that there are probably not a small number of people that play different servers with both different rates and mods as well.

Also, remember that rates are relative. You can by mods or other settings make even high rate servers feel grindy and time consuming still. Its more about the recipe of it all.

^ this, plus alot of people i know who play unofficial think the most imprtant thing is a mature host.
Because nobody wants to play on a server from a 10 year old attention problem kid that switches everything up each day and you dont know if the server is still there next week because the kid had not enough cash to rent it longer then a month.
You wont find the perfect settings for your server to get a bunch of people instantly.
I had many day z servers over the years and the most succesfull was a epoch server that
ran 2 1/2 year.
But only because it ran great, no wipes and no messing around.
It is a bunch of work though and even if you are just on your server to help
the players and dont even play yourself, even then get ready for the casual admin abuse
insults.
It is fun with a nice community and a little forum to talk and stuff, but also alot of work.
And if you are realy want to get into it, as a tip for ark server, offer people that you have a cluster
where they can switch between atleast 2 maps.
That helps to get more people.
good luck

26k servers 70k people ... that's a lot of empty unofficial servers.

yep, because most people rent a private server for performance reasons^^
Same is happening on ps4 now, friend of mine doing the same there.

its a pity running a dediciated session from your pc isn't easier to share. I know many of these are basically just single player games that friends can join in on.

3x Is best for me.

I set mine up with individual harvest amounts.

So for example

Wood 4x
Stone 3x
Thatch 5x
Metal 5x
Obsidian 5x
Crystal 4x
Narcoberries 5x
All other berries 1x
Oil 3x
Silica pearls 4x
Black pearls 4x

Pretty much everything has its own multiplier.

Taming at 10x. Breading is alot faster than vanilla.
I also did a custom xp number for each Lvl so you level slower and use the low tier items more.

With all that I also put harvest respawn on 100x so it takes a long time for stuff to come back.

Max dino Lvl 130. 2x wild damage with each dino having its own damage multipliers as well.

Rex 5x
Carno 3x
Spino 3x
Sarco 3x
Shark 5x

The rest as well but can't be bothered remembering them. With the damage overall on 2x a rex actually does 10x vanilla damage. I did change there resistance to make them easier to kill and tranq.

No HUD as well so you don't know what Lvl a dino is before attacking it.

If ya wanna know more let me know.

I only use small multipliers on XP and harvesting (like 2-3), but 50-200 on taming, breeding, growth and imprinting.. because I absolutely hate that part.

I currently like the way the official servers are set up. They seem much easier than the last time I restarted on a server. Breeding may make me change this stance or if there is a X3 going on I'm not aware of. I was able to get a decent base with all wood and some stone with a couple tames yesterday. I also gained about 40 lvls yesterday.

My server is 2.5x but I also reduced nearly every engram cost because it didn't make much sense for a 15 lb. rifle to take 95 lbs. of metal.

I always handwavium stuff like that away by thinking of it as you are actually further refining the materials. I.E. metal ingot = bronze/brass, material needed by high end item = steel.
