Why do alot of people have their steam name "123"

I looked at recent players and a lot of the people have the name 123. Is that for hackers?

Trolls mainly but also used for people wishing to hide their identity for raids and crap.

I dont trust anyone with a name 123 private account nor even talk to them.

I heard it is used to prevent stalking.
Some websites allow to stalk players and you know their servers etc

Because people can look you up on battlemetrics and see your playing history (your home server if you raid cross ark) and other details. By changing name to 123 you cannot be tracked like this because your name is not unique.

I thought 123 came up when their name consists of foreign characters. Like Chinese.

Mostly they are griefers who raid across servers and don't want to be tracked.

They're too much of a ♥♥♥♥♥ to keep their normal name when they raid, even then they probably raid thatch bases with parasaurs. I would be embarrased to if i just raided some guys thatch base for no reason other than to be a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Chances are if you find one of us or someone called 123 We play ARK Survival Evolved, but on Player vs Player and why like 70% of us on PVP servers are called 123 they are a few reasons we do this
1) offline raiding in ARK is often seen as a easy way to raid someone and brag so if it says HyperMan has joined this ARK your enemies see your online yes? and HyperMan has left this ARK they can go and wipe you and brag and stuff ( Much Harder to Be Offline Raided )

2) People often well not anymore identify players by there steam name but if so many of us have the same name there goes that, and its now done with survivor names so having a steam name 123 and survivour name Human is very common to stay hidden my survivour names on ARK is just chinese characters

3) Over all you get a big advantage and are much more hidden on PVP

OUTSIDE OF ARK

1) people being harrassed or bullied or something on steam and want it to stop you can change your name to 123 and block the person so they can't find you , because lots of us are called 123


But i use it for the reasons on ARK as i love to play ark and have 2460 Hours on that game
