question about gamma settings

why have we 2 settings in options gamma 1 ,gamma 2 can anyone explain pls i wanted raise gamma at nights a bit in my SP game ,so its ridicolous dark even with full moon and no clouds i cant see ♥♥♥♥ wchich is 1 meter before me w/o torch,i raised monitor gamma and contrast but cause that light surfaces almost blinding me now :/

You set the value of the gamma for gamma 1 and 2. For me I kept gamma 1 at 2.2 and set gamma 2 to 4.0. It's simply a faster way to switch gamma. Earlier I needed to open the console, type in gamma 4.0 and then enter. Now I just press + on the numpad (which I bound it to)

aha okies i will try experiment a bit ,but why there ar e2 gamas usually games have just 1 are those separate for night/day or so ?

It allows you to switch settings between those 2 values. Many people switch to a higher gamma at night so they can keep playing without needing too many torches.
