Real quick about the unicorn

I wasn't reading the forums when the unicorn came out. I've seen all this stuff about the phoenix and ppl calling the unicorn the failicorn?

What's got ppl so upset about it? Was it just that they are extremely rare or something else?

Only one unicorn exists on a server at a time. If a tamed one is on your server, no wilds spawn.

The unicorn is ultra rare only 1 exists on a server at a time,
yet they are just a normal equus with a cosmetic on them.

People wanted it to be speical like endless stanima or something worth having only 1 a server.

My server i modded it so it's a direct upgrade.

And as for the phoenix upon release it was a joke i scored it 1/10,
after all the updates it's a 5/10,

But since it's madness hard to find one,
Only 1 exists at a time during a 5 min heatwave that only happens every hour or more,
takes 3-4 mins to tame it,
the ashs turn invisible until the next heatwave to prevent people easily finding it.
And without a fire wyvern or somehow figuring out where it is and entraping it before the heatwave it's not possible to tame it.

Tried with tek tier used up 2 flamethrowers, dozens of fire arrows and 30 element but it's designed to keep max distance from players and change direction & altitude chaoticly.

Still i believe afew more light changes and it will be a brilliant mount worthy of the effort but 1 of those changes has to be rising from it's ashs should it die.

that could work/ either by making it a baby or lose levels per death.

@pycco everyone has discussed it and think if the ashs act like an egg and you pick them up throw them into a fireplace and it hatchs to a baby phoenix then it would be a brilliant system as we can imprint them and they get the rebirth that is the phoenixs defining trait.

@pycco tho they still need abit more stanima, health and weight as those 3 are abit low atm for something that cant be bred & is impossiblely hard to find & tame in time.

There are some great videos on easy ways to capture/tame the phoenix on Youtube.

I do not want to take others credit so take a look, its very easy with some effort.

I wouldn't mind the phoenix being a tad weak of it revived upon death in anyway.

I love the phoenix I have on my server.


Also, it might be better to find the phoenic and wait for the heatwave end. If you lnow where the ashes were when the jeat waves ends. You can finish the tame by hitting the ashes with fire

Well, phoenix is OP against AI wyvern, you can basically clean the whole world scar with one fly, it does a DoT on all wyvern in render range dealing 150sec with its flying attack, might be a bug but sure as hell anyone who has a phoenix in their tribe is level 100 in no time. I dont know if it's a bug or not.

Their standard melee is a headbutt, but I'm not sure if it does any more damage.

from looking at the equus and unicorn i currently have i dont see any benefits to the unicorn other than non existant bragging rights.
always see one spawn at the exact same spot in a fresh ragnarok map so dont really feel the rarety. just need to be fast before the giga eventually paths towards it

a big issue with it however is that it can only breed with other unicorns making breeding out a useful one several magnitudes harder than the equus.

the phoenix was quite literally a companion creature (dodo for reference) that was mouse dragged scaled up to become a mount that was weaker than a raptor and one of the slowest flyers without abusing its ability which is pretty much eqivelant to just dumping sulfur into lava.

as it is now its barely functional as a forge with extensive leveling and inventory management but if anything I wish the thing could land. i would happily sacrifice its in flight stamina regen for that just so i can use it as living furnature as it was made to be.

After that 268.2 update my phoenix hardly uses much sulfur anymore.

The phoenixs food consumption has gone down but for the effort it's still not worth it,
the wyvern bit will be fixed so will the no agro on the fireball,
it's honestly a early to mid game creature that requires end game to tame making it rather useless.
If they fixed it's weight, allowed it to land and gave it a rebirth mechanic then it would be a fantastic end game tame.
