I Keep losing all my settings and singleplayer characters/worlds.
Hi,

It is currently impossible to play singleplayer for me since everytime i restart my pc and start up ark my character gets lost on my singleplayer ragnarok save, it just makes me make a new character and when i do so all my structures and dino's aren't there either.

Also everytime i start up Ark again all my graphic settings get reset to default same thing for the world settings when you load/create a world as well.

Another thing that keeps happening when i restart my pc and open up steam is that steam lists ARK as uninstalled, now this is quickly fixed by pressing install since all the local files are still there steam just needs to detect them but the fact that it keeps happening seemed worth mentioning.

I already opened a ticket but that seems to take ages and all i get is useless automated email messages that don't help for ♥♥♥♥.
Does anyone know what i should do to fix this?
Currently i feel like the only solution might be reinstalling it, but i would rather not.\

These are all problems with your pc setup, not the game. ARK not being installed when you restart means your Steam database is getting corrupted or not saved.

How are you shutting off your pc? Closing steam first and then using the shutdown command in the Windows menu?

Are you running Steam as admin?

Well i am simply closing the lid of my laptop, which previously would put my laptop on stand by i think, but now i restarts which is fine with me since restarting only takes 1 sec or so.

Anyway I am not sure if i am running steam as admin, never had to pay attention to such a thing for any game. As for closing steam before shutting down, this is something i've never had to do either.

Right click on your Steam.exe application and select Properties, then the compatibility tab and scroll down and check "Run this program as administrator". This is needed for quite a few games in Steam.

Then next time you quit, exit Steam and then shut down your pc thru the menu. Then next time you turn it on see how things go.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
