1. Rag currently has all the biomes from both The island and Scorched Earth. This includes their dinos and resources as well(oil and water and silk nodes etc).
2. It has Ice Wyverns, Polar Bears, Griffons, and Ice Deathworms which are exclusive to Rag's map.
3. It has Queen Ice Wyvern and Laval Golem as special bosses specific to it.
4. It allows the picking up of branches of wood and thatch laying on the ground and has rare flower nodes that can be harvested.
5. It has in the highlands region nodes of advanced crops such as rockcarrot and savroot that spawn in many places and can be harvested for both the crops and seeds.
6. Metal obsidian crystal and other similar resources spawn more commonly and more evenly distributed across the map.
7. There are wooden crates strewn along various locations inland and along the coast that can be broken open with a pick or hatchet to earn anything from flint to grey xbows, metal hatchets, metal pickaxes pikes and more.
8. It has currently 3 different platform building location types: redwood trees, Large cypress looking trees, and special stone columns in the north east's "giants causeway" area (hexagonal stone shaped rocks) There's even a cave in that area where 3 platforms can be set from the rocks in the ceiling of the cave.
9. It has specially designed giant beaver damns both in the round and in long rectangular forms at certain ponds.
10. Arthopleura, areano, megalania and beetles spawn out in the open in the volcano/volcanic ash beach areas(along with mantis too I might add) where as they'd be in caves only on the island map.
11. Special dead and beached Basilosaurus whale carcasses can be found and pickaxed for spoiled meat, black(not the organic) oil, and keratin.
12. Black pearl nodes can be found too in the ocean.
And more.
What Rag doesnt have currently that the island has is the final ascension mechanic nor the island bosses in the obelisk terminals.
Tame or spawn a griffin and explore, there are some awesome things to discover.
Whether the map is buggy or not would be your call, to dismiss it because a few people think it's unfinished and buggy would be a shame.
The map is 3/4 playable with the 1/4 southeast desert not ready yet.
Ragnarok currently does not support the end game ascension
ragnarok is 3-4x the size of the island map
ragnarok has custom bosses and a unique dino..the gryphon
ragnarok is made by 3 guys 2 who have made awesome ark maps before..valhalla and umassoura.
ragnarok gets patches by cadence with wildcard, if you want to get a less buggy experience try the BEAT BUILD on the steam workshop
ragnarok has its own ini settings that control the eruption rate of the volcano, spawning of unicorns, and makes the development wall passable.....
oh and ragnarok is 10000000x better than the island.
Ragnarok is playable but its the bugs that annoy me.The major one is running under the ground - even when u sat on a dino u seem to melt into the ground.
This is why i stopped playing on rag.
TBh out of every map i always seem to go back to the center map.
