surly 4.5ghz is overkill just for the server? i knew the cpu would be the weaker part of this setup but unfortunate thats the only part i cant upgrade. what would be the minimum cpu would i need for speed and cores/threads.
Also ark is a high fidelity and high resource demanding game. Hosting on an old computer is just asking for issues to occur.
Few players doing bronto berry swipes and that comp would probably go into cardiac arrest.
i thought the server would not be that bad, im not playing the game on this computer. So i though the server would just need to do some small processing jobs for the players that are connected.
If you can downgrade ram and ssd. i think for only 6 players 4-8gb ram and 20-30 gb ssd would be enough.
for 5-10 players are 16gb enough.
but i will look at a new spec.
Try and find a server hosted by a small player owned computer and bring some friends, start doing things like building lots of mall sized parking lots of dinos and castle sized bases, hop on a few bronto's and berry swipe a plenty. Spam T dumping items in and out of inventories.
You'll see serious slow downs in most cases.(some may even time out or crash).
Can you run a server with your afore mentioned rig? sure. Will it be able to avoid issues(especially if you start to add various mods or have more than 5-6 concurrent)? Absolutely not.

If you want the cheapest route, rent a server from a hosting service. Not only will this be a fraction of the cost but as well you can cancel at any time. Running a server is a lot of work and alot of responsibility that tends to burn out or turn off novice server owners.
It isnt helpful to give them info for such if it has nothing to do with Ark. Ark as mentioned before is a pretty demanding game on rigs be it hosting or gen game play. I do not recommend taking any info in that regard seriously.
CPU: Ryzen 3 (3.40GHZ, 4 cores, 4 threads, 8mb L3 Cach)
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
GPU: Integrated AMD Radeon™ R-Series Graphics
HDD: 500GB 32MB Cach 7200rpm
For a small server you'd be fine. I ran a server on a phenom II 1035t for a while and it was fine up until 15 people then the ping would start to rise as the player count rose. The Ryzen 3 is quite a bit faster than a 1035t.
Again I think your ram is a bit low to host for others to play the server, especially if you plan to have various mods and allow players to build large sprawling bases.
Also putting the game on an HDD versus an SSD is going to be wince worthy.
