SP Default Gather Rates
Did they just change something? I've been playing steadily for days and my gather rates just drastically rose. I've been clicking "Reset to Default" button when I load my SP map on The Center, but sometime between last night and this morning my rates went from 1-3ish per metal hatchet strike on a rock to 8ish. However, when I pick up individual rocks on the beach it's still one. Wood also went up.

Checked in the options, everything is still the same, option set at 1.0...

Also side note, they haven't fixed the sky memory leak (for those who have it) yet have they? I know it moved to "Further Down the Road" but I was hoping a quick fix...

Did your melee go up? Using a better quality hatchet? Maybe just coincidence?

As for true sky, it's mentioned in the upcoming patch if you look at the patch notes stickied at the top of this forum..

I'll check my melee, don't think it did though, took tons of hits to kill a higher level dilo, felt about normal.

I was hoping the sky in the further down the road notes was for some improvements, etc, hoped the actual crashes could be fixed without.

What crashes are you referring to? Do you suffer from the memory leak caused by the sky? I haven't had a single crash since the summer of 2015.

I think a check for gather rates is to pick up a rock for a quick check.

Melee and improved tools would increase your tool harvest /punch rates.

I do; anytime either my sky quality slider moves above 0 or i remove the command launch option -nomansky, i reliably crash within, say, an hour or so. With those options on I've crashed only ONCE in the last month or two, and I was flying all around the map being crazy.

Seems fairly consistent for me and I've tested it a lot, though no harm in testing again I guess. Never know when they sneak updates by us.

Did you reset to default between the time you were getting 1-3 and the time you were getting 8? Was that the first time you reset to default? IIRC default in local the game toggles on "single player mode" which boosts resource harvest rates among other things, which is on top of the settings for other things.

Thanks, in this case I've been using the same tool (literally; I repair it everytime) and I tested picking up rocks; still only get 1 rock.

Picking up single rocks doesn't work any longer. That was changed a while back to only give a single rock.

Yeah, unfortunately my clicking "reset to default" button is not wholly consistent, it's entirely possible I happened to not click it, but generally i DO.

I read recently about some issues with the Single Player Mode option not affecting everything properly.

Well, let's try this again I guess.

Good to know.

Well color me confused. Deliberately clicked the "Reset to Default" button before loading my map (as I've done for months).

My tree and rock harvesting rates are significantly increased, probably 200% normal, possibly 300% (seeing single strikes give 10+ wood, and collecting 70 stone from a single rock, up from 25ish. Trees gave 40 sometimes; now they give 100 wood).

However, my Berry and Fiber harvesting rates are the exact same as before.

No food buffs, no dinos used, no idea.

One thing that I forgot that may matter; I installed Scorched Earth before playing this morning. Wonder if it changes the rates.

Thanks! Didn't know that.

If you are playing single player and have ticked the single player option in the settings then your "default" will still be higher. It was in the patch notes a while back. Single player has higher rates, faster xp gain, faster tame and so on.

Found it. Patch notes for 265.3 on the Ark website say, "The Center resource gather rates now match The Island." The Steam patch notes don't have that line.
