My Ark folder is only 57gb..
Hughie Aug 30, 2017 @ 12:41pm
Does that include DLC? Mine only shows up as 78 gb (std game only).

My game folder is also over 100GB. I have all the free DLC installed though and have signed up for quite a few mods in the steam workshop. Still, that seems like an excessive use of disk space.

it doesnt need to be that big, i get a few good that make your eyes water they look that petty but they about 50GB max

ffs people patches are NOT accumulative! Yes ARK is big game but a 500Mb patch doesnt strictly mean 500Mb were added.

Lol how does a game like this use 100+GB worth of storage.

Very easily, it has a lot of content a load of maps that it has to load up, not to mention data for servers and what not, then on top of that you got the save files.

Ever heard of data compression? This game isn't that big mate.

106 Gb here. Got all the DLC and a bunch of mods. I've got 3 hard drives anyway, so 100 Gb here or there, I've still got plenty of space left. Not everything has to be on my SSD.
CpZapper Aug 30, 2017 @ 12:53pm
Data compression is what probably makes it look like ♥♥♥♥, compressing textures for big things so it's small makes it stretch, they wouldnt compress textures and code unless it was very optimized.

Here is the solution. Get another harddrive to install games onto.

see this one is on sale... it is 1TB and a WD Black drive meant to be fast. It's not an SSD but it will do just fine. You can even install some your other favorite games.

yea... but it's a Steam requirement, and then there is the UE4 container bit.. and... yea.
