Restore single player character?

Hey guys, I had my PC overheat and turn off during a game and I've lost my character. As far as I can tell the world is intact but I've lost access to all my buildings and all my animals.

I've tried renaming a few of the .bak files without any luck,

Any other ideas? I've had a quick google but no luck there either.

If I can't restore my stuff I'm considering just uninstalling the game. I've spent weeks building, taming and breeding and I can't be bothered to start again. (This would be my third restart)

You may be unable to restore your character if the .bak file was overwritten after you logged in....... but you can use console commands to get your character back to the right level, and you can insert him into the tribe so that ownership of all your old structures and dinos returns to you.

also you may want to start doing regular backups of the /Shootergame/Saved folder

Yeah I think I'm gonna have to start doing regular back ups. I did think it was a mistake when I made a new character.

I think console commands are just gonna be the simplest way to get back to where I was and that link is helpful.

Really simple way to get your stuff back
Walk up to a structure you built with old character and target/look at it.
type in console
enablecheats
cheat TakeAllStructure
cheat TakeAllDino

Now all your old stuff belongs to your new tribe/you

Thanks for the tip man, this exact same thing just happened to me and I am beyond angry.
