Why is ark 238 gb (Answered)

I have heard you are supposed to uninstall and re-install so ark doesn't just keep on adding stuff. Is this correct.?

Not sure how you get 238 GB. But i have certainly not.
Mine is only around 100 -> 110 GB. With all expansions/free-lc and official mods.

Did you use mods before? Maybe they are still stored in your folder.

That is crazy, I have only 108-110GB of Ark data on my 960 pro drive.

I think you may be using a lot of mods, big mods, map mods maybe?

EDIT: ARK is at 208GB on that 960 pro drive, how very strange.

I have 2 mods... guess I will get rid of them and see how that goes. They didn't seem to be that big.

Wait a minute, I now have my ARK at 208GB.

You have to reinstall Ark once in a while. I have the same thing, because they don't clean up their patches properly. A clean install is around 108 GB but after several patches my ark folder easily can grow to 150. So I delete it and reinstall every so many months.

Updating as we speak. I'll keep an eye on my disk usage when its done.

I validated my game files and the storage shrunk by 100GB back to 108GB, from 208GB.

Is it only so large if you have ALL DLC maps available? I have only Scorched Earth installed and steam says my Ark folder is 65817MB

My ARK is 56GB (FIFTY SIX). No mods and no expansions installed.

After updating to the latest version my game remains around 106 GB. So no issues on my end. Maybe try a validate. Could fix it.

That's what i am doing right now. If validationg doesn't work I will uninstall, re-install.
