Why is the broodmother arena so dark
I am playing SP, I have ascended before but decided to start a new game. It has been a few months and a few updates since I was last in the Arena. Before when I was in the arena it was easy to see everything. This time I went in it was almost pitchblack except for some small lighting. I could not see anything. I could only see the broodmother by her health bar. I was in Alpha mode. Is there a setting I need to change? Is this how it is suppose to be? Do I just use nightgoggles? I just want to make sure I am not missing anything.

I ended up adjusting the brightness on my comp, and I tried night goggles, goggles worked okay but got broken pretty quickly when I got splattered with acid goo. The overall brightness was better, can see their highlight more but still everything is dark. First time I had a beafed up Rex so it didn't matter I couldn't seee. The second time was me running around solo with rocket launcher and a sword. After a lap around the arena I realized they took out the bridge and the lower pathway which I use to use to trap the broodmother so I could rain down on her from above with my weapons.

I have the same problem. I've turned the gamma all the way up, but still can't see anything but silhouettes.

You can attach torches to dino saddles like skins now. That might help you.
Necroing this in 2019 because this is a top google result. It's likely because you are running in DirectX10 mode. You must run ark normally to be able to see without bringing your own light to the brood mother cave. The good news is, you probably won't have problems with FPS. I get higher frames in there than I do outside.
