No there is no actual demo for the game.

You could actually buy this game, play it for a while and then refund it (at the moment I don't know how long you have until you can refund it)

If you have played a game for less than 2 hours or owned it for less than 2 weeks you should be able to get a refund. It should be noted that Steam considers using the refund system to demo a game as an abuse of the system.

I refunded it once before, because my machine couldn't run it that great(multiplayer).....but I heard single player may be different, so thought I may check it again. Who knows if I'll get a second refund.....

I only play singleplayer and other than the memory leak i have had almost none of the problems that other people report in multiplayer.

singleplayewr is harder on your pc since it can´t share the workload with the server

There is a demo on the offical website for Ark, but not on steam I don't think.

only seen a demo version for xbox... tbh single player is actually harder on your system.

This is correct as in single player your computer must run both the client (what you as the player see as the game) and the server (the part that handles things like spawning, memory, AI, ect...)
