Why is everyone called 123?

I join so many servers and half the players have the username 123. Is it just ARK or is it some kind of bot thing?

no way to find out steam id via ark, but if your profile name is unique you are in a great disadvantage ...

It's to prevent 123 raiding tribes from being tracked back to their home servers after they offline raid.

From what I've seen , this "hiding from alpha tribes " is utter BS since 123 tribes are now doing the majority of raiding via server transfers.

The 123 thing doesn't really work to be honest. Its a waste of time. If someone really wants to bother you they can always find out what other names you used to go by on steam. There is a list of all the names you used to use. So just a little searching and you can be found. Just go through official channels and get rid of said people

People are afraid of server wipe alphas tracking them down, and alpha tribes hunt down random little guys and are too cowardly to allow themselves to be tracked

Keep tabs of ur friends list u should not have this problem.

If you resubmit the name 123 10 times ther list doesn't shoe anything but 123.

In others words. Done right, the only way for 123 players to get rekt is if an alpha yribe out right attacks all the 123's.
