Nothing other than you can invite friends into your single player game. The default "tether distance" is quite short, just to warn you. That's the distance your friends can't exceed from you.

Its all the same just in a non dedicated other people can jump in with u. U have all the same stuff in the same place.
I have had a few good fun guys just check out what ive done and helped mine and whatnot.
I have also had a group of guys jump in and try and raid me. Thank god for ban and kick. Infavt i may even still have a few players unconscious in the snow biom lol.

It won't kill your computer, but it could put more strain on it than it can handle causing poor performance. But no damage.

your CPU would roasted

If your CPU is decent you can do it no problem. I have an i7-3820 - quad-core 3.6 GHz. I run Tether Distance at 100 which lets people go anywhere on the map and not exceed it, even corner to corner.

Keep in mind this is not the case when you enter a Cave. If you do, then your friend will be warped to the cave along with you, and if he attempts to get in on his own, he won't be able to -apparently- since they are considered instanced zones. This is also the case when you get close to the Tek Cave at the Throat of Flame. Try not to get too deep into the volcano unprepared because when you hit a certain point your friend will be transported there, even if you're technically outside the "cave".

Well man this is bad. I want to play private game with my partners without this cave tether.

  • More computing resources used (RAM mostly)
  • More bandwith used
  • Your friends, when they are playing on your hosted non-dedicated server can interact with the world, with you, with your tamed dinos and with your structures. When your friends are gone the effects of their presence will persist...
