You serious?
Wow... That's pretty intense, as actually it was you who got insulted.
Even though you shared some questionable thoughts about someone licensing an existing game engine for his own game, I am still wondered about the removal of your response to that insult.
Since just because you got a questionable opinion, no one should feel necessary to insult you.
I mean... Look at my response.
Just came up with the clearest sarcasm I could think of. ^^
Ostseekrabbe wrote a post where he asked you about your maturity and wrote "Reported".
Funnily it was THIS post he wrote, which got deleted.
I saw his post as I was about to write something again and then it wondered me why the post was gone.
Ostseekrabbe said it got deleted by a mod somehow, which is a bit disturbing.
However, I am not a Jimmy of Ostseekrabbe.
I also wrote a response to that nonsense, but in a much better way than you did:
Instead of cheap insults, I used sarcasm.
But yeah, basically thats the reason why its ShooterGame.exe.
So it seems you got my post wrong in the first place.
Furthermore, I won't use the word moral, when it comes to insulting other people.
No matter how justified it is.
Instead of that lazy oneliner with one harsh word you could have elaborated yourself much better about Ostseekrabbe's opinion.
But it seemed you got butthurt about, so I guess your major goal was to actually insult him.
I didn't took it serious, rather found it funny. Therefore I formed a funny, sarcastic response. Simple as that.
The thing is even if people are able to read, it's about how they comprehend stuff.
A "Jimmy", can be a slang word for a pal. At least I know a region where it is common to use it in that way.
So, you didn't mean it in that way, rather as the meme I didn't know about (I am no 4__chan user alright) and you understood my first post as sarcasm?
Fine then.
That still doesn't justify your instult against Ostseekrabbe as morally correct, which is the actual case we talked about.
Well, you asked me if I am able to read, I told you that it doesn't matter as even if you are able to, it depends on how you understand things what are written.
Words have many meanings...
And if I am not aware about meme phrases used by people, then I am sorry for not googling any phrase in a language which isn't my mother tongue, but rather think about the first meaning that comes into my mind.
Beside of that misunderstanding, the thing is Ostseekrabbe made a questionable statement and you reacted in an insulting way.
Simple as that.
You could just have wrote that he is wrong or rather make a funny response, no?
It's not me who felt insulted, but the (now deleted) reaction of Ostseekrabbe showed that he felt that way.
If this is the way you have conversations, than I probably have to wish the best of luck to you. ^^
the answer: there are starting templates in unreal engine, and one is "shooter game", a generic shooter game template which already has some settings premade to start a ... shooter game type.
the devs probably started from this, and thought they will rename later. but because they used c++ classes and whatnot, and they built so much stuff in the game, the renaming of a simple project folder became not so simple, because it would produce a LOT of bugs.
unreal engine hard-codes paths, and changing these is a huge PITA, this is why the folder is "shootergame", and in the editor, ark is named "primal earth"
small cosmetic inconvenience, i can live with it. ark has bigger problems than the folder name :D
I programmed the rest my self while ARK is using some survival fps template.
I'm not familiar with battlefield 2, but how far into it are you? Do you have any videos of what you have at this point?
For simpler things blueprints are fine, but the more complex you get you'll start having issues. There's certain things that simply can't be done (atleast properly) with blueprints and more or less require actual code. If you're familiar with c++ at all I would suggest atleast restarting it as a c++ project instead of a blueprint only project. You can then keep using blueprints the way you are now, but if you have any issues you can switch to c++ for a specific section of code as needed. You should also consider that even though you can technically compile blueprints to c++, blueprints are still significantly slower. For most things, blueprints being slower really isn't as big o a problem as people try to make it out to be as the biggest impacts on performance are the things being rendered to the screen (more of an art design / level design issue).
Btw, you might have missed the irony in your statement that I quoted. You're using the third person template, Ark used the shootergame template. Ark would have had to scrap almost everything from the shootergame template anyways and only a few things still persist (though those things might be gone now too).

ShooterGame is the UE default. I don't think this will be changed.
