Are Therizinosaurus/Tickle Chicken normally this though? *Newer Player*
Wiped out 4 of our dinos that were x2 its level and proceded to three shot me and my tribemate as I unloaded up 30 crowbow tranq arrows into it. It came up from the beach and instantly agroed onto my stego. We are currently newish to ark as we owned the game for awhile just really started pumping hours into the game now(level 38 in game).

At this point im not sure if we put points into are dinos wrong as they were all 80+ level to the Therizinosaurus or if Therizinosaurus are just normally a tough dino to deal with?

Also whats the best way to deal with a Therizinosaurus in the future as their argo seems far? :ROTTR_hunter:

The therizino aggro should be smaller than a rex. Tho they are comparable to a rex in dmg, not in hp. They should he treated with care in the wild. Untill you get better loot and mounts.

The Theriz is a strong beast, it has been nerfed, as it was more powerful, you could try taming it they are like the rex for takedown, but it's a long tame, well worth it though as they are good gatherers of wood, thatch and fibre.
My suggestion would be get a rex so you can fight them.
Or kite it away possible with a flyer.
The other thing to do is build walls to protect you dinos.

Therizinosaurs are a beast of a dino to mess with, and there's different tiers of dinos (beginner dinos, medium dinos, tank dinos, damage dinos, gathering dinos, etc.) so depending on what dinos you had, they could get nuked quickly by other dinos of a certain type.

For example: You can tame a Trike early on in game and it will give you TONS of materials when you sweep bushes/trees to give you a massive ability spike early game, but later on it is completely outclassed by the Stego, while later still the Stego is outclassed by the Bronto. The same goes for other dinos like the Raptor to Rex, or Ptero to Argent.

Dealing with a Therizinosaur is best to either get it stuck in trees as you run and attempt to drop aggro, or lead it to a cliff or large rocks that only you can scramble up and pelt it with Narc Arrows to see if you can tame it or just kill it. Those are the basic ways to deal with dinos that you can't stand toe to toe with. If you are able to tame one, Therizinosaurs are excellent gatherers and still deal a TON of damage, they're an OP dino for PvE.

The Theri is a formidiable opponent, soon you will come to find that your level really has no play in the game. The idea is to utalize your dinos that you tame to your favor or have gear that is essential to mitigating a bit of damage so that you might be able to last long enough to kill whatever is breathing down your neck. As to the question at the bottom protect your dinos if they cant handle a theri neither can you...

Personally I much prefer mammoths, or the therizino itself for collection. Never liked using the bronto for berries. Its just insanely slow.

The Therizino is an Apex Herbivore on par with the T-Rex in terms of power. It has a distinct advantage over the Rex though in that it's attacks have an armor piercing quality. That may be what did in your tames.

Turkies (as how i tend to call therizinosaurs) are pretty much the T-Rex of herbivores, and kind of like the spino they do lose topor pretty quick so make sure u have a lot of narcotics on hand and Megalosaurus Kibble (if u got it), as for strengh and that they killed ur tames...the dossier does state it quite clearly that its power is compareable to the Rex which is quite accurate.

BUT its uses when tamed are invaluable, after each of its level ups u can open the wheel and level up its harvesting to be Brutal or Delicate, delicate is more so to get high quatity's of stuff your typical herbivore would gather from bushes and i think hide, chitin and keratin, while brutal i think also increases how much dmg they do but lets u get massive amounts of meat

oh yea i forgot the dossier states that its claws can peirce armor and even pierce the turtles shells

Now im going to sugest something IF u plan on taming one: personally i would use tranq darts on them, make sure ur bringing a lot of narcotics to keep them asleep and since levels to vary, for a 150 therizino u want to bring at least 900 narcotics....but for food taming if u want the best u want megalosaurus kibble which isnt the easiest to get your hands on.

But if ur wanting to kill 1 (i mean u have to in order to fight the bosses), best method is placing wall spikes then either stab with a pike or shot bullets into its head, but if ur going to a dino offensive on them, best i could say is try using Allo's (a pack of them cause thats when they are at their best) or T.Rex's...but if u want to i guess u could try charging at them at full speed and strike on a woolly rhino

I haven't gone after one in a while because they're a pain in narc and darts. These days we breed ours if we need another.

I'd say the kibble is a must for taming as even with our servers boosted tame ratios you can spend hours feeding it narc by the stack.

Anyhow they were always OP on our server. I've had one Argo me while on a bird a good height above and regularly seen them school wild Rex's and Spino's well above their level.

Yes... Zinos are awesome in every way, the fact that it destroyed you like that should make you want to tame them...... they're kinda mental! Long tames though unfortunately, lol

They aren't THAT difficult. It is just a Dino that takes practice to fight. Your best bet in the early game is to use a Dino with good knockback and then have a second tribe member nearby to shoot it and deal extra damage.
I have successfully killed a 145 Theri with a high level Trike, to be specific it was a 150 berry tamed Trike that I knocked out and tamed very early (meaning I used a slingshot because I didn't even have tranq arrows yet)
If you fight it on a hill (higher ground) and time your attacks you can minimize the number of times it hits you. Now no offense to others methods, as they are all valid and I know they work, but I prefer to use non "cheese" methods. I find getting it stuck in trees or standing in a cliff where it can't reach you cheap. At that point you might as well use admin commands to kill it (assuming you can) plus nothing is more exciting than finishing a fight with a level 145 Theri and checking your Trikes health to see you were one hit away from dead! I obviously a very risky player. Haha

As with many other dinos, your best bet is to just run if you're on foot or on a weak dino. Avoid them when possible. They can be killed on foot, but keep your distance because even with good flak armor they will tickle your organs right out of you if they pin you against something.

Also if you aggro then on foot it takes something close to a 130 movement speed to outrun them if I remember correctly

There's an image that ruined my lunch. Lol

But yea when your in flak and one hit results in multiple broken armors. You bola your friend and run. Hoping they live long enough for you to flee. lol
