Ragnarok.. Rock elemental problem?

Hey. I've been trying to taming a Rock Elemental on the Ragnarok map (my own Unoffical server)
i've used rocket launcher & cannon but both are killing them and not doing any torpor... I'm also hitting perfectly in the head and the Golems never shake there heads... Is the something i'm doing wrong or is anyone else having this problem on this map?

Had this problem myself.

Trap the elemental so it is facing you and you have a clear shot at its head. ONLY get headshots with the cannons. You will know it is a headshot because they will stagger a bit. Headshots deal less damage but more torp than body shots.

I don't know how feasible it is to hit them in the head with a rocket launcher. I swear I hit them directly in the head and they never play the headshot animation. The only time I can get them to do it is with a cannon.

yeh i've tryed 3 different ways. Catapult, rocket launcher and cannons.... Catapult works perfect and hit it perfect everytime but as you know takes a very look time ot knock out.... rocket launcher kills them and never get the headshot animation. & also hit the cannon ball perfectly in the head and still no headshot animation.... I'm going to keep trying with cannon ball but i have killed 5 now with cannon balls

I have a way to do it perfectly with a canon.

Rockelementals have a dead zone ... an area where they are agrod to you but have no way to attack you. If you or a dino is in that death zone the rock elemental will freeze or slightly wiggle a bit.

What you do is make an U shaped trap with pillars. About 10 in game meters from the bottom of the U you place a pillar with a plateau on it with the canon (this can be replaced with a a paracer or w/e with the canon on it ofc).

Somewhere within the area in between the bottom of the U + the canon is that deadzone. If you want to solo tame you can use a somewhat tanky dino placed between the U and the canon but hugging the U shaped trap.

Lure the elemental in to the trap. It will hit the dino once or twice with its melee attack and it will get pushed in to the deathzone after. The dino will be to far for their melee attack but too close for their ranged attack.

Climb the canon, take all the time in the world to aim and freely down any rock ele in a matter of seconds.

Ive solo tamed 50+ rock eles like this on unofficial and official. I havent seen a single one die yet. Pretty much every single one was within 20 levels of max level.

we used to do something similiar but would use 5 stone gates in a U shape and then delete the middle one . this will give the perfect spacing. and a paracer with a cannon on. also I improved it by making myself a little pillar and stone cieling to hide me in the dead zone.
