Maybe alf f4 or shutdown the exe in task manager. But if SP works like servers it autosaves from time to time

Don't Alt F4, that saves the game. Closing via task manager doesn't, not for me anyway. And the autosave can be configured in the ini (can't remember if its the game or usersettings)

If you're playing a server, especially one you do not own, you have no control over saving or not saving. That's done by the server.

If you're in single player or own your own server, then saves depend on the last time via the saving interval occurred or a manual save otherwise. In general if there is a goal to exit but not retain something that was done(like in sp) best to just reload a past save manually that you stored seperately as a backup(but that is a bit involved).

Perhaps knowing why you're wanting to do this can better help give you some other alternative suggestions if applicable?

In singleplayer on Windows: use task manager to end process. (Processes tab)

just back up your saves.
i believe there are miniprograms to do it. but a shortcut on your desktop and copynpaste is probably easier and quicker

Yeah, back up your saves and save every half hour or so. I only reload a save when it's a bug that screws me over, but that's just me.

Then you dont need to go to all the trouble in single player to mess with saves then. Just get the death helper mod. Lets you create a special "grave" that you can place anywhere(most put near their bed/respawn spot) and you simply click it and all your items are returned to you. This also can be very helpful in bad situations where your corpse or corpse bag fall under the map too.

Additionally you can get the mod pet finder to show you where pets you misplace had gone to.

Game becomes so much more interesting and with more utility when you join the majority of players and start using mods.

You can use a mod for your personal stuff, but this doesn't work with dinos. If I would lose a dino that was, at that time, important to me I would just hit the reset button on my computer. You'll lose a little bit of gameplay but not a lot. I've done this a 'few' times and never had any problems.

i wonder why this game is a survival game if you just reload when your dying?
woofer1772 Jul 18, 2017 @ 2:29am
True. I really don't do it anymore, but when your low level and have finally tamed your first Rex, or something simular, it sucks bigtime if you lose it.

how is it a survival game if you just respawn at your bed at your current level?
Daywalker Jul 18, 2017 @ 2:40am
because you lose everything, and if you wnat it harder play hardcore then you can make a new char everytime you die. its a survival game not a reload if something happens game.
